1. I walked to a Jack-In-The-Box in Queens when I was 10; this shows my age, since there haven't been any Jack-In-The-Boxes in NYC since the mid-1970s.

2. I went to a Wetson's right by St John's Hospital in Queens circa 1973. This shows my age, too, since the last Wetson's closed in NYC about 1974.

3. I like the California method of adding condiments to hamburgers----mustard, rather than ketchup.

1. I have a strong spatial memory and can easily recall where I was when I learned discrete facts. (The spellings of individual words, grammatical rules, facts ... almost anything). I remember where I was as well as an onslaught of sensory information about the moment.

2. I learned too / two / to at age 6 while sitting on a yellow school carpet with a knot in it, with swirling, coloured dust particles in the sunlight of a winter window. I had to squint. My teacher used pale purple marker on a big sheet of paper to write the three definitions as a learning aid. She illustrated "too" by drawing a bucket with "too" much water in it.

3. I learned "7x7 =49" at my aunt's house when she was decorating for Christmas. I was sitting on a bean bag chair trying to braid my doll's hair while also practising multiplication. 7 x 7 is white like snow. 49 is lime and pink. When I hear 7 x7 now I still associate it with my aunt, whom I associate with gravy, because she cooked roasts really well.

3. You don't like mustard.

I'm thinking #1---because it doesn't involved synesthesia in a direct sense.

I don't really like mustard that much----but I accept it on a hot dog.

Actually three is my lie. I did sit at her house braiding my doll's hair, and I did learn 7x7 as described, but they weren't on the same day.

1 and 2 are true. I'd say that I recall the learning moment for 75% of all the individual facts I know. Sometimes I recall using synaesthesia, but sometimes it's just a photographic type of imprint.

Not weird at all. I doubt I'd do an organized tour of anything, anywhere.

Movies that freaked me out beyond comprehension in a psychologically terrifying way:

1. Mrs. Doubtfire

2. Saving Private Ryan

2. The Truman Show

You're right. Doubtfire didn't scare me, but rather it made me extremely upset. I felt so incredibly sorry for RW. I didn't understand how child custody or a parent's broken-hearted desperation could be funny. I think I cried through the whole thing.

2 -- I couldn't get past the opening battle scenes. I was traumatized by the violence.

3 -- I'm still affected by that film. Talk about mindf**k.

1. I like elevated subways.

2. I like British Rail.

3. I like breakdancing on the trains of both.
