I own this thread haha, either that or shortfatbalduglyman does. We're the ones on it most!

Didn't want Boris for PM. Why are stupid politicians popular? When did it begin? It's not just that I disagree with almost everything he stands for, it's also that he's dumb and a stupid person shouldn't be allowed to be PM.

Was Ann Lister aspie? She comes across as a real mixed bag character, everything about her is either extremely good and ahead of its time (mostly just her confidence in being herself as a woman who liked other women and as a gender non conforming woman and as a generally stubborn woman) or extremely bad and like a dinosaur before people even knew about dinosaurs. It wasn't normal for Georgian/Victorian gentlemen (gentle women in her case although she reads like she was NB with her descriptions of being neither one nor the other) to openly view his workers as unhuman assets only there to be used to get money - that was a more medieval thing. Although, I suspect some very rich people see us all like that even today.

People are really naïve when someone who is the appropriate sex and good looking tells them things. I mean, assuming they're gullible anyway. It increases their gullibility.

Why is Queen and Bohemian Rhapsody in particular (Galileo) popular in Vatican City? (I'm basing this on hits on Alexa)

Ooh. What sort of bicycle? Draw a late 1980's/early 1990's Orbit Gold Medal.

I don't know cos it's from a picture, it was a modern day black bike.

Now I'm wanting to do this once I've done this pic I'm working on now and my next planned one. Thanks for the inspiration :)

Does anybody remember when there were "3-speed" and "5-speed" bikes?

They don't exist any longer.

I was so proud of the Christmas gift of a 3-speed bike when I was nine.

I just looked them up on Amazon.

They don't have the ones with the banana seats that we had as kids. There's a couple---but they are not the same as the ones we had as kids. And they're expensive.

A 10-speed bike was a big deal in the early 70s.

Nowadays, bikes have "speeds" on both handlebars.

My first bicycle was purple with a banana seat. My brother had a yellow one which looked a bit like a dune buggy in its construction. I have a photo somewhere. I also remember being jealous of my brother's five speed blue bike, which he got for Christmas. I had ten speeds myself as a teen / young adult. I used to ride my ten speed around campus.

I got an orange 3-speed bike for Christmas when I was nine. I thought it was such a big deal! I even loved the smell of the banana seat.

In what was a "tragic" event, it got stolen when I went to McDonald's in Forest Hills when I was 11. I grew up in Rego Park, Queens. It was a big deal to go to Forest Hills, about a mile away, when I was a kid.

:( :( :(

That's so sad. DIdn't you have a combination lock? I loved the smell of mine, with the coloured plastic covering. I remember learning my combination when the radio was announcing the end of the Vietnam war.

Sorry to hear that Kraftie.

I used to love riding my bike as a kid, until I discovered video games.

I had a MASTER combination lock. I don't remember if I actually forgot to lock the bike up. Or I might have locked it up inadequately. I was sort of a loopy kid, then.

I was afraid to ride my bike to school in case I forgot my combination. I pictured everyone would laugh at me.

(TWIZ: "They're all gonna laugh at me!" :skull: -- Carrie).

Nope...no video games when I was growing up. Pinball machines were actually banned from candy stores until I was about 12 years old.

When that bike got stolen, it started a downward spiral in me. I became a pretty troubled kid.

Carrie reference! :D

I could never ride my bike to school. It was always too far away. I lived out in the country.

^^^^You'll do it quick once you get started.....

It's the "getting started" part that is the most difficult.
