Your dad was an interesting man, indeed. I wish I had his varied talents.

I never knew anybody with a 8-track player lol

I bet he picked you up while you two danced.

He was incredible. The greatest man to walk this planet (not that I'm biased in any way, whatsoever...) 8)

Why do the best people leave us so early?

Things he and I had in common:

1. We both had a permanent ridge in our pinkie fingernail (right hand only).

2. We both hung up corded telephones backward (with the wiggly cord across the dialling circle).

3. We both put pepper on everything.

4. We both loved Robin Williams.

5. We both could sit for hours in a car without speaking (unlike my mother or brother).

6. We both danced like drunken robots (especially to Satisfaction and Rasputin).

7. We liked to go skating together but it had to be outdoors on cloudy days (no sun, no indoor lighting).

8. We both liked to knit.

Only one is a lie, but I'll give you two guesses.

My brother has my dad's car 8 Track and my mother has the house 8 Track. They both still work.

Yes, he picked me up to dance until I was too old for that. Then when I was older we danced (albeit like wooden robots) when no one was watching us. Usually my mother was busy cleaning something, but dad and I would be cutting a rug in the other room, to a familiar set of oft repeated songs.

I’m thinking #3.

I would have loved to be a dad like your dad.

My lie was 4.

The only movies I recall my dad seeing were Smokey and the Bandit or that type of car thing, when we were on vacation. He didn't watch TV other than Hee Haw, and I don't think he knew who Robin Williams was. I don't recall ever seeing him read a book, either. He just liked to tinker and build things, go boating, or have a good time when he wasn't working. He travelled to many island type places.

Everything else was true. We both loved pepper, ice water, ice cubes, butterscotch, fishing. You name it.

Thank you for the compliment. Yes, he was the best.

Losing him on Christmas Eve was brutal.

My lie was 3, someone else had adopted her off the street, but I helped them get her settled in. She's a beautiful dog, solid white coat, and white eyes. I'm surprised no one had taken her sooner.

1. I like the sun very much.

2. I want to live in Eureka, California because of its climate.

3. I wish I lived in a clearing within a forest.

I think 3 for you? Despite your wolfiness, you'd prefer Eureka.

I’m actually a person who likes it when the sun goes behind the cumulus clouds. I like to try to imagine who the clouds are.

I would enjoy access to a forest...but access to decent sealed roads, too.

In response to Kortie,

1. I like when the sun goes behind the clouds and stays there. If it's night time, such that the sun is behind clouds on another hemisphere, that's even better.

2. I like bright blue skies when it's snowy. I wish I were an accomplished skier who could freestyle in the sun.

3. I like dark, windy summer nights with the scent of lilac or fresh grass in the breeze.

This is Emily's poem, written to the stars as an ode to the night sky

:star: :star: :star: :star: :star:

Ah! Why, because the dazzling sun
Restored my earth to joy
Have you departed, every one,
And left a desert sky?

All through the night, your glorious eyes
Were gazing down in mine,
And with a full heart's thankful sighs
I blessed that watch divine!

I was at peace, and drank your beams
As they were life to me
And revelled in my changeful dreams
Like petrel on the sea.

Thought followed thought—star followed star
Through boundless regions on,
While one sweet influence, near and far,
Thrilled through and proved us one.

Why did the morning rise to break
So great, so pure a spell,
And scorch with fire the tranquil cheek
Where your cool radiance fell?

Blood-red he rose, and arrow-straight,
His fierce beams struck my brow;
The soul of Nature sprang elate,
But mine sank sad and low!

My lids closed down—yet through their veil
I saw him blazing still;
And bathe in gold the misty dale,
And flash upon the hill.

I turned me to the pillow then
To call back Night, and see
Your worlds of solemn light, again
Throb with my heart and me!

It would not do—the pillow glowed
And glowed both roof and floor,
And birds sang loudly in the wood,
And fresh winds shook the door.

The curtains waved, the wakened flies
Were murmuring round my room,
Imprisoned there, till I should rise
And give them leave to roam.

O Stars and Dreams and Gentle Night;
O Night and Stars return!
And hide me from the hostile light
That does not warm, but burn—

That drains the blood of suffering men;
Drinks tears, instead of dew:
Let me sleep through his blinding reign,
And only wake with you!

Emily Brontë, 1846

I love the penultimate stanza
