I'm sorry that you guys are treated like that and kept out of so many forms of assistance. I'd be pissed too if I worked for that long and paid into those same programs, and then got nothing for all of it.

Covid money was only for people who couldn't work because of Covid lockdowns, or:
they had Covid
they were caring with someone who had Covid
they were a student
they were unable to find work because of Covid
they were on pension
.... and a bunch of other categories, which all included financial loss / employment loss
I didn't have a job to lose. I didn't count.
My daughter could have received stimulus money but it would have been subtracted from her benefit money, so that she would end up losing money. It's one of those things where you have to declare new income.
So for example if she normally got 500 benefits as her maximum allowable income, but they gave her 700 Covid money, she would end up with zero (500 - 700). I heard some people say she would even owe $200 back to the government but I can't believe that's true.
Her best friend was a student taking one class online and living with her parents. Never paid taxes in her life. She started a minimum wage job for just a few hours a week and was there for about two weeks before the place was forced closed on lockdown. She was eligible for $2000/ month stimulus money for something like ten months. $20,000 tax free.
But I can sit and rotate.
There was also a mortgage and land tax relief program but it was only for people who lost their job or had Covid.
There was even money for parents, if their children were under 18 (lol).
And money for the children themselves if they were 16-18.
I couldn't win for trying.
