My mom's blaming me for downloading s**t into her cellphone and eating up her minutes. It's impossible, since I don't use her phone without me being in front of her, and always on WiFi mode. And my nephew's not helping. He keeps on pestering me and stuff.

It is raining... so the internet is slow. I'm not joking either. All I can get in this technologically backwards country (France) is second rate dial up internet in this countryside location. My connection speed is currently 2K that is approximately 1/3 normal dial up speed. :x I'm sure people living in third world countries in mud huts have better internet connection than me.

The telephone lines here are crumbling, so a little rain and they start to short circuit and the connection degrades. Sodding useless bureaucracy ridden country.

Dear TallyMan, Please help me to picture this; you are in France, they make and sell designer handbags for $500 and up. They make and sell designer shoes for $1500 and up. They make and sell designer clothing whose prices are appalling ( I recently read about a designer blazer that was $4000), and they can not fix their telephone lines?? Please explain the French mindset to me, 'cause I just don't get it! Sylkat

Xbox was still showing as no fault found, apparently they can't find anything wrong with it, yeah because I'd send my xbox to them just for a laugh  They did this last time too until I got on the phone and threatened them with trading standards, magically they found a fault, fixed it sent it back. Not even bothering this time, the insurance company is sorting out a different repair company but still another week or two without the xbox. Saints row 3 is just sitting on a shelf crying out to be played!! !

The fact that there are even some people on WP who can't accept the differences of other people who are on the spectrum and one of them called a friend of mine annoying for liking what she does.

My employer rolled out our new health insurance plan for 2012 and it sucks. Some of our previous ones have sucked, too, but this one is rather bad. I'm actually debating buying my own coverage like someone who's self-employed would have to do.

EDIT: At least I have some kind of healthcare coverage. Not everyone can say that.

France is known for its high fashion, but only a tiny minority of people can afford such things. The majority of people in France wear the same as everyone else - cheap Chinese imports.

France is a nation run by bureaucrats. Every aspect of French life is ruled by bureaucracy and lots and lots of rules. The French love nothing better than to fill in forms and create endless organisations to process these forms. If there is a problem they create a new organisation to handle it, or rather to create more forms. The French are drowning in pieces of paper. You can't go for a piss in France without getting written permission countersigned by the French president and ten organisations, each of which takes months to process.

Regarding the telephone lines, France Telecom (aka Orange) has the monopoly. Their only interest is providing infrastructure in large towns where they can make a huge profit. They make no investment in the the telecommunications in rural areas. I'm stuck with 1950's telephone lines here. The insulation is falling off the wires. However, because it "works" they won't replace the lines. The wire was hanging off the pole a couple of years ago due to broken connectors - the cattle were using it as a skipping rope in the field - the neighbour had to hook it back to the pole using a washing line prop because France telecom said "But the line still works - so no problem". French technology at its best.
