Maybe, those were overwhelming times for you or times of change before the hard work begins.

1968 was also the first year in a new school for me, as we had just moved to a new town.

The dream seems to vacillate between threats of danger (real phasers, opening someone up with a nail, gore) and relief ("a gory flourish of red crumpled paper" and "luscious ripe fruits". Well, the flourish of red crumpled paper was a relief to me.

yes, I have apiphobia ['fraid of bees and their blasted infernal stingers] so now and then I have terrorizing bee dreams, the aforementioned one was terminator bees just like little ahnolds flying around and buzzing me/divebombing me. one part of the dream had a terminator bee trapped in some kind of cage in a bathroom, and a bunch of flies were swarming around the cage buzzing threateningly in a low-pitched hum. everywhere I went in this dream I found terminator bees, some the size of crows. but they left me alone, didn't actually sting me. just were threatening, is all.

Wow. I pictured cute bees. That sounds terrifying. Were the flies threatening you or the bee in the cage?

the bees that were flying. the flies were threatening the caged bee only. don't know what their beef was against the poor thing. or why it was caged in the first place. the crow-sized bee had an edgar allen poe vibe about it.

I wonder if the flies are threatening the caged bee beecause he's different and vulnerable. They aren't brave enough to go after the ahnolds. The flies are kind of riff raff. The edgar allen poe vibe is interesting, too.

I just have to search the memory banks or have one I can remember. I love dreams but somewhere around middle age and up I had great difficulty remembering them. When I wake up, it is like the floodgate of worries wash away my dream. Sometimes, I get lucky and can catch some of it.

I have a lot of dreams where I see danger in the community (like one time a lion had escaped from the zoo and was killing people) but I am the only one noticing. The lion was loose in a hotel and people were just reading the newspaper.

Another recurring dream is being in an elevator with no doors or the door does not close and it goes up into the sky. I'm trying to hold onto the walls because it does not go straight up but wobbles. There are about three other people in the elevator but they have no problem maintaining their balance. I'm trying not to fall out the open door.

the way I remember them is to record them as soon as I am able to. when the dream fades upon the return of waking consciousness, I replay as much of the dream as possible to cement it into long-term memory. some of my most vivid dreams were when I was in a stressful spot in my life. it is just a matter of determining to preserve the dream as best you can. often I was interrupted in that by the damned alarm clock :x anyways, the following is courtesy of dreammoods.com-

Elevator
To dream that you are ascending in an elevator represents a rise to status and wealth. You may have risen to a higher level of consciousness and are looking at the world from an elevated viewpoint. If the elevator is moving upward in an out of control fashion or it crashes through the roof, then it indicates that you are being catapulted to a position of power in which you do not yet know how to deal with. You are afraid of the new responsibilities ahead for you. In general, the up and down action of the elevator represents the ups and downs of your life. It also symbolizes emotions and thoughts that are emerging out of and submerging into your subconscious. To dream that the elevator is out of order or that it is not letting you off symbolizes that your emotions have gotten out of control. It may be a reflection of your life or your career. You are feeling stuck in some aspect of your life, whether it is your career, relationship, etc. To dream that the elevator is wobbling means that your efforts are counterproductive. You are struggling in your work, relationship or other situation, with no help from your coworkers who seem clueless.
Lion
To see a lion in your dream symbolizes great strength, courage, aggression and power. You will overcome some of your emotional difficulties. As king of the jungle, the lion also represents dignity, royalty, leadership, pride and domination. You have much influence over others. You also need to exercise some restraint in your own personal and social life. Alternatively, a lion represents your need for control over others. You have to be in charge.
Zookeeper
To see a zookeeper in your dream suggests that you are on the verge of losing control over some aspect of your life. Some situation or emotion is threatening to come to the surface.
Zoo
To dream that you are at a zoo symbolizes loss of freedom. Alternatively, a zoo suggests that your abilities and talents are going unnoticed. You or an aspect of your life feels caged in. The zoo may also represent chaos and confusion as implied by the common phrase "this place is a zoo!" You may need to tidy up some situation in your life. To dream that animals escape from the zoo implies that your hidden desires can no longer be contained and must be acknowledged or expressed.
Hotel
To see a hotel in your dream signifies a new state of mind or a shift in personal identity. You are undergoing some sort of transition and need to move away from your old habits and old way of thinking. You need to temporarily escape from your daily life. Alternatively, the dream may imply a loss in your personal identity.
Newspaper
To see or read a newspaper [or see people reading the newspaper] in your dream signifies that new light and insight is being shed on a waking problem that is nagging on your mind. You are seeking knowledge and answers to a problem. Pay attention to the dream as it may offer a solution. Alternatively, reading the newspaper implies that you need to be more vocal. You need to express yourself. It is time to make the headlines. To dream that you are the only one not reading the newspaper indicates that your reputation is being called into question. There is some uncertainty in a situation that you are pursuing.
Exit [open door]
To see an open door leading outside, in your dream indicates that you are looking for a way out of a waking situation.

This past night, I dreamt I was visiting Cornell University with my family and I went up to the top of a clocktower on campus. When I get up to see the view, the sky turns orange and then flames erupt in the distance like something got blown up. Everyone's scrambling to get out with falling down and when I get to the bottom it's like there's a holocaust going on.
