It feels weird to see people talking about how different things are now when to me, it seems just like any spring weekend (except that it isn't the weekend). I don't have a job and don't usually make grocery runs, which I guess eliminates some of the major changes for me. But outside there are children screaming, lawn machinery running, and cars passing by just as usual, and I encountered lots of people when I took my dog for a walk.

I don’t drive, so walk everywhere.
The streets here are like a ghost town, there is hardly any traffic, stores are crowded at the checkout lines, but for some reason, the aisles are not.
The food delivery services are VERY busy, at least SOME businesses are making money.
The regular walkers are staying home, only the dog walkers are still coming out regularly.
Real estate sales are not happening.
No one is going to go into various houses, no matter how long they have supposedly been vacant.
Very gloomy, sad vibes.
Churches are online only.

I'm only leaving the house once a day, to walk the half-mile to the supermarket and back. Due to the draconian restrictions in place, that's just about all the freedom one has here. Even the supermarket now only admits about half a dozen people at a time, and there are long queues outside throughout the day and into the evening.

I want some super-specific topics. I don't have the right words for what I'm trying to find, but I know what I'm not looking for.

Finding articles about autism that does not centered around or it's end goal about social and communication issues.

Comorbidities? Maybe as long as it is not centered around social and communication issue consequences. i.e. bullying
Learning disabilities and exceptionalities? Fine. Any forms of developmental delays maybe except anything related to GDD.
Sensory processing differences and distortion? Ok. Fullblown sensory disability is fine too. i.e. blindness
Meds and treatment? As long as it's not about social behaviors.
Management and self care? More about personal management, and less about stressed out parents and topics of anxiety overall.
Political correctedness and advocacy? Uhh no -- specifically no social issues allowed in general, that includes external/outside autism itself. i.e. discrimination

Yep. Super picky. :ninja:

I was listening to Science Friday this afternoon and there was an interview about the hippos that Pablo Escovar brought to Colombia, which have now invaded the natural ecosystem there.

At the end of the interview, in which the person being interviewed sounds intelligent, expressed himself well, seemed to have such a solid understanding of his topic...I was surprised when the announcer said that the interviewee was a PhD candidate somewhere.

I can't imagine sounding like that ever, much less when I was a PhD candidate. I think of what path my life would have taken had I been able to pursue a career in my area of study, but upon listening to this, I can see I have never had the skills to move forward in the regular scientific community.

Extremely loud, intimidating thunderstorm last night, complete with rather spectacular lightning.
Today is sunny, warm, beautiful clouds, except for puddles, the storm might not have happened.

Kind of annoying how NTs get to be judgy about pretty much anything but it's considered bad taste to be a book snob. Books are the one thing I excel in and there's even a notion you can't talk about literature without being a 'snob'.

That life is tougher for most people than for me so I should focus on that as well as use the scant hours that I get to myself to study.

I'm already at one of the warmest cities in the country and I'm still cold. :|

It'll end soon this year. Though it'll only lasts for about less than 3 months...

I'm wondering if I could go horseback riding this week, or if the stables would be closed. It's animals, and I don't have to interact with humans. I could prepay by phone and get a therapeutic day outdoors.

A need to submit resumes to potential employers in part because of the COVID-19 outbreak.

Sorry about your loss Isabella.

I kind of get that some people don't like reading books. I don't appreciate that sort of person but I kind of get that we all have our own interests.

What I don't get is why some people who are actively on social media fail to comprehend the most simple, basic tweet. That has to be deliberate...

If I say 'when a and b and c are sorted out', don't come at me with 'but a is a priority'. Yes, I know it is. But I'm talking about after it, and some other things, are already over...
