Many people still believe that both North and South Korea will always be respectively, a communist and a socialist country, so I think reuniting them will be a bad idea.

What are your views on the US normalizing its relations with Cuba?

People think South Korea is a socialist country? Intriguing.

As for Cuba, personally I haven't seen any real progress come from the decades-long trade embargo, so I'm not opposed to developing trade and political ties again. Western countries have bigger problems to worry about. But it's anyone's guess as to how this will affect Cuba itself. Hopefully for the better.

Are you worried about the economic situations in Greece and China? Do you think it will significantly affect your country's economy?

Greece is facing its own Great Depression head on, so if it ends like the US did in the 1920s, the people of Greece will only have their government to blame. As for China, I haven't seen any progress because of how well established the trade embargo has been against China.

Same question.

Well, I don't think the Great Depression in America was properly resolved until the advent of World War 2, when the US economy went into full swing to supply armaments to its own forces and the allies. Be that as it may, that's not going to be the solution for Greece! I think the EU, the IMF and the ECB between them will come up with some kind of fudge which will keep Greece staggering on for another year or two at least. The main effect on our (UK) economy is more likely to be temporary disruption to the financial markets (good buying opportunity?) rather than any damage to the real economy.

Not sure what you mean by the 'economic situation in China'. The big issue hitting the headlines right now is the collapse of the Shanghai stockmarket, but this is unlikely to have worldwide repercussions as most of the shares are held by domestic investors. The wider Chinese economy is a bit of a mystery, as government figures on growth etc are highly suspect and may have no basis in reality. The Chinese State still controls most of the major companies, and may or may not be able to counter the apparent contraction in growth by fiscal and monetary action. If the government manages to significantly cheapen the currency (the Renmimbi), it could increase the risk of deflation in the US and elsewhere and cause problems for the Western economies.

Sorry, I got a bit carried away there! :D

Have you had a good day so far?

Hasn't been a particularly good or bad day so far. I think it was this year's coldest morning.

Pro-choice can be also pro-life... But pro-life isn't mostly pro-choice. That's how what I thought it is.

If you're able to go into a fictional world, which world would that be?

I had a small coin collection as a child, none very old or rare or in mint condition, I liked the pre-decimal 'old money', and the pre-Euro pound.

Whats the last book you started to read, but didn't finish?

The Maltese Falcon

Even if you don't like the genre very much, what are your favorite film noir and/or neo-noir movies?

I liked Double Indemnity for the classic. For the neo I suppose L.A. Confidential is pretty good. I'm not sure if Pulp Fiction classifies as neo, but if it is, it's one of my all time favourites.

Are you a fan of Humphrey Bogart?

I've never even heard of him. Just googled him. He looks good but I can't instantly become a fan.
