Yes, we get snow---and quite a bit of it, too. 20 centimetres (8 inches) in a storm isn't rare at all. 8 inches doesn't stop anything in New York City. We go on as normal---except, perhaps, for some delays on the buses.
In 2016, we got about 75 centimetres in one storm! In 2010-2011, about 50 inches (about 125 cms) of snow laid on the ground from January to early March.
Usually, though, snow on the ground doesn't last two full weeks even in the heart of winter.
It can get mighty cold----but once in a century, we go down to Minus 20 Celsius. It's the wind that makes it cold, rather than the temperature, usually. Last February, it went up to 24 Celsius one day. Usually, it's between about Minus 7 Celsius and Plus 7 Celsius in January and February.
