Either, I suppose. It says they want professional if you have them, otherwise character will do. I have one professional one, but I've lost touch with all my other professional references (two of the places don't even exist any more).
So I think it will have to be character. But I'm not sociable enough to know anyone for that. I don't even know any of my professors well enough to ask them.
I don't think I'm on any terms with our post office, really. I use it but I don't know if they'd know me enough to give a reference, especially since it's not a local one any more. I didn't even know they did references tbh, maybe worth a try?
I'm not sure how to contact our vicar but I'll see if mum has anything. I saw him at work at Christmas so I know he's still around. I am friendly with our neighbours, but one set is retired, one is an heir so he doesn't really work-work, and the guy next door does some kind of car stuff or something. IDK it's big money lol but I never really understood what he does. He'd definitely speak favourably of me because his little girl comes over here to draw with me sometimes lol, but I don't know if he'd be appropriately 'professional'. My mum has lots of published Uni friends that don't really know me beyond a 'hi' lol, maybe one of them would do me a favour.

Seriously though, I've written some really tight letters of recommendation for people over the years.
If you're interested I could swing it.
I'll use a UK phone number.
Thank you. I might genuinely take you up on that if I can't get anywhere. BUT I will try every which way else first, I wouldn't want to trouble you.
Speaking of cups and Brontë btw I saw some beautiful mugs in a shop in Hay the other week, they were by a designer called Jane Booth. I wanted to take a picture but I got the vibe that the shop lady was watching me so I didn't lol.
