I'm uncomfortable with my feelings about stupid people.
On the one hand, it's nobody's actual fault. So it's wrong to dislike them.
On the other hand, I never signed up to be a teacher...
If someone doesn't know something everyone learns at school, they should really say why like if it's a learning difficulty. If someone doesn't know something we learnt at sixth form, they should really say 'I'm more of a science person'. If someone doesn't know something we learnt at uni, they should really say 'this isn't my field of expertise'.
Or at least don't talk about stuff they don't understand.
Makes me feel like a secondary school teacher at work when I have to correct someone who's saying stupid stuff.
I've started unfollowing them on twitter if they don't listen.
But I feel guilty about it cos it's really nobody's fault if their life took a different path or if they have learning difficulties.
Just y'know. If I'm talking to a scientist about science, I will say something like 'now correct me if I'm wrong, I don't know much about it but I always thought...' before I make a tricky point - just in case I make a fool of myself.
Yes. I can really relate to these sentiments.
It drives me crazy. I cycle between annoyance at people and then guilt for being annoyed at them.
