Never say never. I'm proud to say that I've been banned from both Facebook and Twitter and don't miss either of them. I prefer Wrong Planet and the real, genuine people I've come to know around here. :D

To quote Harvard historian Daniel Goldhagen we are "willing participants" in this enterprise.

No I experienced lights/orbs on a consistent basis between 1977-1978 living by the coast and during that time my sister would sleep walk out of the house and find herself unlocking doors and waking up in parks 1-2 km away and my brother had serious blood nose problems for no reason out of the blue. Both of their conditions vanished after the orbs stopped visiting me.

I disagree with him. The levels of conditioning that are thrust upon us essentially from infancy to induce us into believing there is simply no other way makes it difficult to suggest how much free will is a factor in this. Speaking down from his ivory tower, he might not be as conscious about this as he thinks.

Well he's not a psychologist and to be honest it's taken from his book "Hitler's willing executioners" but the model he presents it means everyone is conditioned from a young age (cradle-grave) to accept authority to some level and the fact we live in the west means we are participating in this enterprise (we are not seeking to undermine or overthrow the system).

Guess who used mass hypnosis very successfully?

Yes he was a master hypnotist which is often attributed to his charisma. Car salesmen come a close second, they initially try engagement and once they have your attention induce a trance by using certain keywords and then persuade you to make a decision once they know they have you under their trance and are vulnerable to being manipulated.

He was also deeply enmeshed in the occult

Just a word on sales because a lot of people have a negative perception of the profession
Sales as an art is not about manipulation, it's about addressing whatever problem your product solves for a prospect and then helping them take action.
People love buying things, people hate being sold. Good salespeople step aside and let their prospects sell themselves on what they offer. Coercion and manipulation are very much illegal in certain industries, including mine. You absolutely must have your prospects' and clients' best interests at heart. People feel it if you don't anyway. I don't understand how people make money in sales being overly aggressive or manipulative. I generally believe people are aware enough to see through that and will just simply avoid doing business with you or get buyer's remorse and return whatever they just purchased. Trust is the single most important component in any sale, in any industry.

There's a lot of similarity between a hypnotist and a salesperson in that their intended target needs to be open/receptive to their technique.

He of course borrowed the swastika symbol (and name) from hinduism.

The irony is that the symbol was present in India 5000 years ago and has no association with Indo-Europeans as he thought (or wished). The swastika below was dug in Harappa India.

Image

On the flipside...the star of david was also present in southern India 10,000 years ago (long before judaism)

Image

This star of david is carved into a rockface and is thought to be 10,000 years old

A person relying on hypnotic techniques to sell is not a good salesperson and is besmirching the perception of salespeople. It's also often more associated lower level sales, like people at kiosks at the mall and used car lots.
