1 and 2 are both true! :P The instruments are for my nephew's birthday, not for me!

3 is almost true. I did look at flights but I likely won't book for another day or two.

1. I don’t have an aunt.

2. I do have an uncle.

3. I had a little crush on my 14-year-old distant cousin when I was 10. We swung on a swing in her porch.

Correctimundo! Both my parents were only children. So no aunts, uncles, or first cousins. No 2nd cousins, either.

Wait, what?! You love Elton? I was married to him as a child in my dream world, don't ya know? 8) I was Susie from Crocodile Rock :)

I pick 2 as your lie. Old punk is good stuff :)

My lie is indeed #2. Yes, I'm going to see Elton in Montreal!! ! I have many cousins there and couldn't wait another year for him to announce dates closer to home (Plus, I always like to see artists at the start of their tours because they have more energy, and just in case they don't (cough) (cough) finish them as expected -- you never know -- I wouldn't want to tempt fate by waiting another year) ! I will likely see him next year as well if the tour continues as expected.

I've seen Elton once before but it was outdoors at a festival. I don't love outdoor shows because the lighting and sound aren't as good. So, I'm preparing for our date indoors :)

Two of his songs are super sentimental to me in particular and I may need to be scooped off the floor.

2 is my lie. I've been eating a lot today because of my stress.

3 is true. I love grey skies.

I was obsessed with Elton John - not so much in my old age, possibly wore out my ears listening to his songs, LOL. Lucky you going to see him! I remember when Captain Fantastic came out and I pestered the record shop "Is it out yet, is it out yet?" I was probably the first person in Auckland to buy the album as in the end they let me buy it ahead of the release time. Just to get rid of me. Yes in my pre-punk days he was all I listened to. Possibly Punk rock ruined me. So 2 is true also. My lie is 3 - I listen to music all the time and when there is nothing playing IRL I have it in my head. Before my memory started to short out I could recall the words of all the songs I love, and I love a lot of songs. Sadly memory is starting to get very unreliable and it takes a while to fossick through the filing cabinet.

1. I love celery

2. I don't really like cake but eat it anyway

3. I love spicy food, genuinely hot curries etc

To quote Casablanca, "I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship"... 8)
You and I seem to be the same person, Ali.

I really hope 3 is true.
Celery nearly killed me (I choked and needed hiemlich as I was literally passing out)
I don't like cake but I'm baking one tomorrow :)

I think your lie is 1

I agree, Ali. I was obsessed beyond measure with his early work. I had Captain Fantastic and in fact Someone Saved was always my favourite song because of the imagery and synaesthesia. Years later it became my personal anthem when I was rescued from a very traumatic situation, and all the lyrics match.

My other favourite (but to a slightly less convulsive degree), is Love Lies Bleeding which reminds me of my grandfather's undiagnosed autism and untimely death.

Other profound loves: This Song Has No Title, Harmony (the whole YBR album), Rocket Man, Levon, Crocodile Rock, Don't Let the Sun Go Down, The One and the entire Lion King manifesto. Basically all the classics.

I'm younger than you but I was quite the little rocker even at age 5. My older brother taught me all his music so I was into Jethro Tull, Beatles, Zeppelin, Sex Pistols, KISS, The Smiths, etc., from a young age. I still love punk.

I don't have any digital music and still own all my original vinyls.

Wow, I ramble. Sorry.

1. Don't Shoot Me is on my turntable right now.

2. I received GYBR for Easter and thought it had something to do with The Wizard of Oz. I still associate the two.
(I suppose they are related as GYBR is about Hollywood, but regardless I was confused when no songs mentioned Toto).

3. I wrote him fanmail which included the fact I was really his wife, Susie.

3 for Isabella, perhaps.

I can't list my favourite songs as there are so many. On the Elton John Album the beginning of 60 Years On with the violin humming really gets me. I guess I don't like the rockier, faster, numbers so much. I've moved too many times to still have a vinyl collection. As an aside (but maybe not) my partner used to make loud speakers - beautiful large gorgeous sounding loud speakers. He was a mastering engineer and has an amazing pair of ears. Anyway one of his audiophile mates has an incredible turntable and speaker set up and I was allowed to attend a 'listening session' and sit in the 'special seat' and listen to that one track, 60 Years On. It was abso-frigging-lutely amazing.

Anyway have set itunes to play all Elton John songs so that will the the rest of the day :-)

Thanks for adding to my reasons to hate celery...'nearly killed my friend'.

OH YES -- 60 Years On!! ! Yes, yes, yes! It's haunting, isn't it? :(

Your experience with the audiophile sounds exemplary.

I'm glad you hate celery, and aren't a fan of cake. :)

Oh, I also really love Mona Lisas and Mad Hatters!

Please play Someone Saved for me. I can seldom listen to it without some sort of breakdown. Love Lies Bleeding is a beautiful song despite being a faster rock song. The lyrics gut me for my grandpa with his undiagnosed ASD. He disappeared in hiding for eight years and then shot himself on my 16th birthday. :( He couldn't "face another day". The "Funeral for a Friend" music at the beginning makes it even more sad. Elton wrote that for his own funeral.

Done! I too love Love Lies Bleeding. Somehow I don't class it with the rockier numbers (faulty classification perhaps?). I love Bernie Taupin's Lyrics - but there is something in the timbre of Elton John's voice that gets me, and of course the composition of the music. I read years ago that Elton was adopted but there has never been a mention of that in these last few decades. I used to wonder about that mother who would never know the incredible child she had. This thread is really going off the rails. LOL.
