32F Heavy Snow

Forecast changed from coating to an inch to 2 to 5 inches.

Very unusual for this time of year on Long Island

WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 AM EST FRIDAY...Heavy snow develops this evening and changes to ice and rain in most locations overnight. Total snow accumulations of 4 to 7 inches and ice accumulations up to one tenth of an inch expected.

40F and cloudy and windy. 5 inches before change to rain.

Since only a slushy coating was forecast and we rarely get accumulating snow in November there was no preperation, no plows, no salt. The New York region was paralyzed for hours. Also because snow was heavy and wet and were still partially foliated many came down, around 1,000 downed and damaged trees in NYC alone.
