I wanted to give myself a username that made me sound intelligent and philosophical, so I was pondering over people who have made scientific/philosophical breakthroughs in the past. Isaac Newton and Einstein both came to my mind, but then Rene Descartes all of a sudden popped into my head. I then thought that Descartes had a nice ring to it, so I made it my username. :)

I'm such a fan of Blind Willie McTell that I thought I'd steal his name.

The story of you misspelling the name always makes me smile.

In the Amazon, "forest television" is slang for ayahuasca. Figuratively (and far more importantly) it is in reference to the pursuit of mind expansion and self-actualization.

My dog likes to sleep directly on flowerpots, making himself smell like dirt.

The character from the tv show Firefly. I love that show and I think she is great.

I'm sorry, but I can't hear "Rene Descartes" without getting a certain Monty Python song stuck in my head, part of which goes :

"...Rene Descartes was a drunken fart. I drink therefore I am!...."

Well, I've never heard of that song, nor anything else from Monty Python for that matter. I certainly hope this does not give you preconceived notions about who I am personally.

I started out posting on a certain website that is famous for breaking news about genre movies. I had read something there that mentioned Professor Pretorius. I mistakenly remembered it as being from an HP Lovecraft story. So I used there and then at Forteantimes, and then here. I was surprised when I finally did a search and found it as the name of the wacky mad scientist in Bride of Frankenstein. I've claimed many times it's my real name in various topics here regarding one's name.
BTW, I've never changed my avatar in the three years plus I've posted here ...

It's a name someone gave to the resurgence of the female soul/R&B/jazz genre. Think Amy Winehouse, Duffy, Anjulie...

It makes for some interesting comments, that's for sure.

Messrs Moony, Wormtail, Padfoot and Prongs are proud to present the Marauder's Map.

I'm a big fan of Harry Potter, and have a further interest in the Marauders. Specifically, Moony was the outcast, and I like wolves.

Daniel is actually my name. I don't like where my last name came from, otherwise I'd use that too.
