I frequently find that my own staggering wit cuts short all attempts at reply. When I turn the full bore of my marvellous intelligence loose, no-one would be so foolish as to attempt to debate. Sometimes I astonish even myself at the deft glory of my own linguistic facility.

Anyone else have this problem?

Yep, most of my topics only got nine posts because they didn't work out to well. :( I only have a couple topics that have more than one page.

How ironic, three pages of replies to a post about people not responding to posts.

...unless I actually wanted to debate the issue. I don't have anywhere near a 100% preemptive argument strike average, unless the subject is guns, in which case I know the opposition's arguments better than they do since I've been arguing that subject practically my entire adult life.

I've gotten a bit more selective about jumping into the fray, my "wall of logic" style posts can be effective but they are time consuming to research and write and they assume that others in the thread are reasonable. I've learned to dial it back a bit, and more importantly when to just hand another poster the rope to hang themselves with, it's always more effective when you let them destroy their own credibility. I've come up with a system of sorts for deciding whether to rebut a post I disagree with, my new philosophy is to only get involved if the post in question has a veneer of logic to it; a blatantly crazy post does more damage to whatever it ostensibly supports while a post that seems reasonable but isn't is far more dangerous.

Needless to say all the above is pretty PPR or News forum specific, when it comes to casual conversation not nearly so calculating or unhealthy for the thread, though my warped sense of humor can hit some people the wrong way.

My latest one hasn't, but I pretty much expected it. It was just me typing out some thoughts before I forgot to.

If I do make a post sometimes it draws the wrong type of attention, or none at all, I am pretty much a non entity anywhere I go

When they don't get a sufficient number of answers I expected, I bump them after some time with the thought that maybe some new people have arrived in the board and they have something to say on the topic raised by me. But typically they do - I post my threads (which I haven't been doing for quite a long time for the lack of ideas but now I have some ideas for threads which I'm going to post soon) when I want to ask about something concrete (even if trivial and unsignificant) so I get concrete answers.

Sometimes I get responses, sometimes no. It depends on time, people present on forum, used words etc. Sometimes my threads are even blinking. When I wrote any controversy, I usually get many replies. But it's not guaranted if they are about I asked. So I try to avoid offtopgenic words.
I don't write only about WP.

I do, plus I can kill a thread in .0002 seconds. :?
