I went somewhere around 90 mph one time. Not sure exactly, since my speedometer only goes up to 80 ¬_¬

Geez, even a Cessna 172 wouldn't go much more than that at altitude.

Driving--about 135 (km/h)

Which is probably a bit faster than any Vr speed I have reached piloting an aircraft. (We don't get very high/hot in this part of the world  )

I'm thinking of Rain Man and the highway scene with all of these fast speeds. :) I'll just get out and walk, thanks.

Getting hit at 100 KPH and 80 KPH is enough for me, thanks; those speeds were enough to cause permanent damage to my knees and neck.

110mph on a motorcycle.

52mph on a bicycle. It was a big hill.

The 52mph was more scary.

24 km/hr or 15 mph... on a bicycle.

I've actually gotten above 70mph on my bike before, but that was back when I lived at the base of a mountain with a long, straight stretch of road down the side of it.

If I went over 70mph on my bike, i would be so freaked out.

If you ride a quality enough bike on a long stretch of road like that, it's not so frightening, it's quite the rush, really. I did it about once a night when the weather was nice for a year before I moved. Took about 2-3 hours to work my way up the side of the mountain, then less than 5 minutes to make it back down. The only frightening aspect of it was the fact someone had died doing what I was doing on that same road when a semi truck driver chose to ignore him and turned in front of him while he was going 80.

This was also on a mountain bike. I can't imagine the speed I would have obtained had I been on a road bike.

156mph many times as verified by my speedo which has a top speed memory function. Remember most car speedos over-read by about 4-5% and bikes by about 4-10%. Mine was checked on an accurate rolling road machine and was showing 176mph on the bike and 176 on the machine so I know 156 is a true reading.

About 130 mph, and the scary thing (at least to me) is that the car felt like it could have done quite a bit more. It was purring like a contented kitten at that speed. I got rid of it pretty soon after. But whatever its top speed was, I don't think I ever got close to it; it certainly never really sounded all that happy under 60 mph.

It was a very weird vehicle: a 1988 Camaro body/chassis with a Corvette engine and transmission. I think GM only made them for 2 or 3 years with that option package. I've never been much of a car guy, to tell the truth, so I'm not really clear why I ended up owning it. Bought it used and actually sold it for a few dollars more than I paid for it.

Funny thing is, it accelerated like a family mini-van, and cornered like a cow on valium. A car guy acquaintance of mine tried to explain to me why this was the case, something about the wider body, narrower tires, and all this other crap. I basically shut down and let him blather. Seemed to make him happy to go on about it, I think it would have hurt his feelings if I'd admitted I really didn't care all that much.

I have no idea where these were filmed. I can't tell one stretch of highway from the next :P

it would be astounding if you recognized where they are given that you live somewhere far away from where these were taken.

the first clip is exiting the toll booth on the M2 freeway southbound (toward sydney) near macquarie universtity, and the second 2 are heading south bound from ballina just north of grafton. the 3rd clip is of the same stretch of road as the end of the longer second clip.

for other viewers:
the second clip i should clarify is mainly at 150 kmh and hits 230 in only one spot which lasts for a few seconds, and the speed drops to 130kph while overtaking other cars because it is the case these days that people may report us for driving "recklessly" if we overtake them at 150+ kph.
the 3rd clip never drops below 190 and hits 240 down the hill at the end. i dare not go faster because my tyres are not rated for speeds over 220 kph. the mercedes is much more powerful than the commodore.

the mercedes could go probably 270 kph at top speed.

haha, I just had a funny thought. Imagine the authorities now start looking at this thread and tracking speeders down. Believe me, where I live, the police actually care to track people down. They urge citizens to call police if they find anyone going 150km/h or more (I forgot what speed) on the freeway. There are also like two helicopters that roam above the freeways in Ontario to find speeders and then they will send some police cars to pull the driver over.

95 mph on a 600cc Honda Shadow.
85 mph in a Mazda SE5 pick-up truck
43 mph on a bicycle 8O

I've rarely driven more than 5mph above the speed limit. The fastest I've ever driven on land would be between 75-80mph on a highway in a car. The Cessna 172 I've flown in, however, goes a bit faster

In my car, between 80 and 90mph. I used to ride on my ex-boyfriend's motorcycle with him, but I don't know how fast we went. He always told me about how he would ride it at 160mph and how he could do wheelies and ride with no hands and stuff  Not sure I believe everything he told me.

Probably 75-80mph. I'm quite a slow driver, and I tend to avoid faster roads. I haven't been driving for very long, though.
