1. My(fairly unusual) middle name is the same as my maternal grandmother's. It may have originally been a surname on that side of the family, and if so, it looks like I have Italian ancestry.
2. I work in a pathology lab. It's cool, because I'm surrounded by interesting medical stuff but I don't have to talk to anyone much.
3. I was temporarily put in remedial class at age six for being 'hyperactive'. I don't think anyone really knew what was up with me, they just saw me as a disciplinary problem because I kept wandering off during assembly. The other kids in the class were in it permanently, and I swear at least one of them had Downs syndrome. When I came out of the class back into normal schooling, even the few people who'd talked to me before ostracised me because now I'd been in, quote, the 'sp****cs class'.
4. I have two tattoos on my upper arms, both of them different portraits of Kurt Cobain.
5. My 'theme song' is 'Sparky's Dream' by Teenage Fanclub.
6. Conventionally 'feminine' women scare me. I don't feel at all comfortable round a bunch of other women discussing hair, makeup, shoes, diets and all that stuff.
7. I hate reality TV. I think too much 'entertainment' these days seems to involve humiliating people.
8. I want to live in Seattle, WA. I currently live in a rural backwater of the UK. We're working on it.
9. My default coffee is mocha with peppermint, no whip (hot or iced depending on the season).
10. I make mixed media art and am constantly collecting old magazines and ephemera to use in collage.

1. My real legal name is Gerard Joseph Andrew, but my baptismal name is even longer. I am Gerard to friends and acquaintances; Jay for family; and Joe for everyone else.
2. I am currently a customer service representative for DISH Network. Not fitting for someone like me, but so far, it's a bit cool for me.
3. My lineage traces back to the monarchs of Luzon before the Spaniards came to our country. I was born, however, to the poorer generations, and both sides were families of farmers and teachers. My dad is a Certified Public Accountant; my mom is an official of our Department of Education.
4. My official diagnosis was not disclosed to me until I was 23. I was diagnosed with ADD by 3, autism by 4. I was never sent to special ed classes, and I have never been on medication.
5. My first language is English. Second language is Filipino. However, I can read and transliterate Korean and Arabic.
6. I am indeed imperious, and indeed dorky. In person, however, I don't look like one. I am more introverted and shy, with a lot of inhibitions.
7. I have a penchant for airliners and anything about air travel.
8. I am a mall rat, having considered shopping malls as my second home.
9. I want to marry my best friend. But I don't even have the guts to at least court her.
10. Not to carry my own bench, but I am a highly intelligent person. I have joined and won several quiz competitions, and have an IQ of 145. Even so, my emotional intelligence is inversely proportional to my IQ.

4. I really, really, really want to have sex with somebody.
Don't these cancel out? If emotions (and thus desires) don't actually exist, you can't really want to have sex with someone, can you?
Part of the problem with being an eliminative materialist is that we don't know what conceptual framework is going to replace the current one. We have to keep communicating in the terms of the current framework, simply because there are no other options.
So yes, it often does lead to contradictions. Saying something like 'I desire sex because I believe it will be fun' is, I think, probably incorrect, but at the moment I don't have anything to replace it with.
