I would say spikes and cold, cause you eventually go numb. I have dealt with extreme heat before, and i don't like it. Here is a good would you rather question...

Would you rather have your parents walk in on you having sex or masturbating (and if male on the masturbating thing...while you were ejaculating)? Someone had to ask it eventually, so I will take the lectures and the warnings, and the getting yelled at on this one...
