I mentioned this site and it’s demographics to my boss. I talked about how the Internet has allowed aspies and auties to network and communicate with each other and the world in a way they never before could. She said it’s no wonder the demographics are tilted toward teens and twenty-somethings since they naturally are earlier adopters. Also, when people over 30 were born, most doctors had never heard of Asperger’s and an autism diagnosis was much more undesirable, like a death sentence, so a lot of are just finding out about our autism later in life.

Get your facts right before you attack the poor guy. Dyslexia has to do with reading and writing

True, the NINDS web site does not mention spelling. That does not mean that problems with spelling does not occour in dyslexia.

The Brittish Dyslexia Association explains dyslexia as:

"Dyslexia is a combination of abilities and difficulties that affect the learning process in one or more of reading, spelling and writing."

I have more trouble making friends with people my own age, (my peers), than I do with someone much younger or much older. I read somewhere that this is a charactistic of Asperger syndrome. Therefore, I find it quite fitting that people of all ages are communicating harmoniously on an AS message board.

I always find it amusing to see spelling and grammar mistakes from posters who complain about grammar and spelling.

Actually, one of the manifestations of Aspergers for me was that I always got along much better with people older than me and that I always had a terrible time guessing anyone's age. I could sorta tell if they were probably kids, or teens, but from 20s to about 60s, I really had a hard time guessing. It just never really mattered to me how old someone was; it was how they interacted with me that mattered.

I'm 43, by the way...

According to the International Dyslexia Association:
How common are spelling difficulties?
Almost all people with developmental reading or language disabilities have great difficulty spelling. In the new definition of dyslexia, people with the condition known as dyslexia are noted to have “conspicuous” problems with spelling and writing. People can also have specific spelling disabilities — that is, they can be poor spellers, even though they are pretty good readers. These problems are very common, although no one has done an accurate estimate of the prevalence to date.

1942 I'm born. Big deal. Mother and father thought so, didn't have much to say about it.
1952 I'm in elementary school. Internet, cell phones, what are you talking about? Eisenhower and polio.
1962 I'm in college. Yawn
1971 I'm in Vietnam, getting shot at, shooting back, I was a pretty good killer....I guess.....I came home alive
1986 Kid is born. (well, I got married first)
1996 I'm working at something I hate, but it's paying the bills.
2006 I wake up and I'm retired. I don't feel any different from 1952, but now there's cell phones, TV, the internet, no polio, and some pretty interesting people on the internet, especially on this board.

Watertiger, if you're lucky, you'll get to be as old as I am. Just don't walk across the street without looking both ways!

It seems like there's a lot of people here in the teens to 20's range. Thats snot-nosed and immature if you ask me. When I was that age, I was chasing skirts and would'nt be posting on messege boards. I hope nobody takes offense to this, it just seems wierd to me.

I guess I'm creepy and old then. 44. Too old to care if my presence offends. Youth is a temporary condition. (haglike cackle)

You do. On Google. Type in the search box: 2006 - 1961

The first hit on the page will be:

2 006 - 1 961 = 45

Too bad youth and wisdom are so mutually exclusive.
(I suppose there might be some exceptions.)
