She had emphysema. And serious heart problems. In her 20s.

So why was she smoking and drinking, again?

This is sad though. Death is never good.

I never heard Amy Winehouse up until 5 minutes ago........actually I had, but I always thought it was a black woman singing *shrugs*. Still sad. People think musicians and actors have it all but a lot of them can't cope with the stress of fame. They just want to do their thing and go home at the end of the day but they can't.

This whole 27 Club thing is strange......I've always felt I'd die on 11/11/11 ever since I was a little kid......and thats coming up.....and I'm a musician........and I'm 27 8O
Now I've got the chills lol.....

better get yourself locked up for that

I'm not a musician but I do love music and have been quite a bit of a druggie as a youth, and I have to say turning 28 was kind of a relief.

weird that you haven't heard of her though, being a musician. are you a classical or old-timey bluegrass musician? ;)

Glad you got out of the drugs 'n stuff. I'm still a little too fond of alcohol. I'm trying to stop though cause I just got put on some blood pressure meds and....Cilexa? Cyprexa? Whatever....its just anti anxiety/depression type stuff. So yeah.....mixing that stuff is not good. Hopefully I'll stop, lol...I have 5 days off from work so I'm actually in the detox process.

I HAVE heard of Amy Winehouse, I just never heard her music. And I'm definitely not a good enough musician to be bluegrass or classical. I play metal. Similar to Metallica/Iced Earth/Annihilator.

Jim Morrison, Jimi Hendricks, Janis Joplin, Kurt Cobain were all 27 when they died, now Amy Winehouse...

Shame she'll be lumped in with such geniuses.
True. she isnt halfway as decent as those musicians, why she's even being mentioned in the same breath as them is a discrace

Well all I can say is I know addiction is a hard thing to fight . People who have never struggled with this problem aren't even going to begin to understand. Aside from her personal problems, I thought she was very gifted and unique in her own artistic right. I'm not a big lover of mainstream music but there was nothing mainstream about this cat-eyed beehive chick who had the voice akin to Billie Holiday. When I heard about her death it sort of warned me about the path I could go back on once I start using again.

RIP Amy.

Very sad ... she had a lot more talent than she ever displayed publically. Now we'll never see it.

:( :(

She was drinking and smoking because she didnt care much about what the doctors had to say.

A couple of years ago I read an interview they did to his father and all he kept saying is that she was hanging out with the wrong people and that she should have stayed on rehab longer(it was the time when she was in and out of rehab and they photographed the cocktails with needles at her place)

At that time doctors were already saying that she should be concerned about her health and thats when she took a vacation to the caribbean to clean up that didnt go as expected(http://www.celebitchy.com/30996/amy_win ... urns_ugly/)

It sucks, she was so talented.

Sadly though, I'm not surprised.

i had a girlfriend like amy winehouse (in a a vastly reduced but still volatile way).
she is still alive, but it is because she never had enough money to destroy herself. i still do love her.

she has a very similar personality to the personality "winehouse" had, and so i was shocked when i heard that winehouse was extinct because it showed me that melinda was not invulnerable in a serious way.

From the TV appearances I saw Amy appeared to be quite a likeable character, so I was dissappointed to hear about this. She had a good voice too. And as her death is currently unexplained I think it's too soon to be jumping to conclusions:(
