:o Return of the absinthe fairy?

I'd just like to say that anything made by Brooklyn Brewery is delicious. I had two Brooklyn Lagers tonight and they were perfect.

Wow; I didn't know that. I take it that Mexico isn't a big craft-beer drinking nation, then. Hm.

Yes, I had the East India Pale Ale a few weeks back...

...and that was a really nice IPA. Have you had that one?

It is, there are two major breweries here (Grupo Modelo and Cervercería Cuauhtémoc Moctezuma) and they produce a lot of beer, and get a big deal of that exported. The thing is that Chupacabras is clasified as Gourmet beer. So you can't just go to the supermarket and buy it, like Guinness, Heineken and other imported beers. That beer is only sold in some restaurants, by box directly with the brewery or exported directly, so it's a lot harder to get.

Yes, it's as I thought. Very few Spanish-speaking countries seem to be into craft beer. Spain is much the same. There are a few breweries that do craft beer (and cider in northern Spain especially) but more often than not you're left with the likes of Cruzcampo.

So if you don't live near the brewery, you're stuffed. I get it.

I like:

Beer, namely British ales. Belhaven, Black Sheep and Old Speckled Hen are favs. I like Guinness and a few other stouts too, and some American beers too, but mostly amber ales, like Sam Adams Boston Ale and Full Sail Amber Ale. I like Sam Adams' Summer Ale and their Ocktoberfest, which is the only lager type of beer I'll drink. Don't like pale ales much, although Bass is not bad. If I can't drink a beer I really like, I won't drink beer at all.

Mixed cocktail type drinks--vodka, gin, rum. Mostly stuff with either fruit juice or ginger ale. But I only drink these are very rare occasions.

Whisky, namely single malt scotch--Talisker, Lagavulin, Highland Park and Aberfeldy are favs. I have a few others. Always like to try new ones. I'll drink blended whiskies too--Dewar's if Scottish; Jameson or Bushmills if Irish.

Margaritas--also very occasionally. But nice once in awhile if made right.

What I won't drink:

Most non-ale beers--just don't find them interesting

American whiskey, in particular bourbon or sour mash--tastes like vomit to me.

Trendy drinks or drinks designed to get you drunk fast--defeats any enjoyment I personally find from drinking an alcoholic beverage

Martinis--just don't get the appeal

Any wine--I'm very sensitive to the sulfates in wine. Makes me quite ill.

Nice idea, unless:

1) you haven't the time or money for it

2) you don't have a quality source of water, which is major issue for many of us in the US.

That second point is why I prefer British ales from traditional, long-standing breweries--they, like the British whisky distilleries, rely on quality, local water sources that been regulated and protected and help give their products a unique quality. Brits get this about brewing and distilling. Americans don't.

I'm not a fan of beer.. but occasionally drink beer with others when there's nothing else available.. I prefer wine & cocktails.

My drink is Gin & Vodka.. It's nearly impossible for a bartender to mess it up!

I'll drink Cosmos, Pina Coladas and Mojitos if I'm with company that won't ridicule me.. Why these drinks are considered girly, I dunno? :?: They're refreshing!

Red wine + medium rare steak + some type of stinky cheese = Mmmm.. Yummy!! !
