My only advice: carry the design around with you for a year, taking it out and looking at it whenever possible. If you're not sick of it at the end of the year and your decision on where to place it hasn't changed, then go for it. But be absolutely sure it's what you want. My other advice is that if you want a mainstream job, place it somewhere that you can cover up if need be.

Great piece of advice, I'm pretty much tattooed on the forearms and neck, however I understand corporate America is quite strict on tattoos. Here in the United Kingdom, you will see businessmen and UK police officers walking around with full sleeve tattoos as long as they aren't offensive.

I think tattoos are a great thing to have and that it is your prerogative to do whatever you want with your skin. Your choice of tattoo might reflect your "aspie" side, which I think is cool. My tattoos to me have a point, they are related to who I am, they are like statements as to my identity.
I have 2 tattoos. One is of a falling star, because I have always felt that I just "landed here by mistake", so I am the falling star. The other one is from the illustration of a fairytale, flowers and a crown, very old world. I want one more done, I want this phrase somewhere on me, but I haven't decided where yet. It is from a poem by Allen Ginsberg and it's me in a nutshell:
Be mad or chill
obsessed with angels
or machines,
the final wish
is love.

The only problem is I really like quotes and I want to get Ghandi's "You must be the change that you wish to see in the world" on the side of my shoulder and I'm not sure how to pull it off. I just wanna make sure it looks masculine so maybe I'll put some border around it. I'm thinking about getting a star of life on the other shoulder because i am an EMT, but I am not sure because I will be changing careers in the next few years after college.

A quality artist will work together with you if you need help with the design. Such a person will draw something and ask how you like it, then modify according to your wishes, if possible. If something won't work, the artist will explain why and offer alternatives. If you need the design to be as close to what it will look like on your body as possible, because you can't adequately visualize it from too rough a draft, let the artist know. Someone who care's about what they're doing and wants your business will take extra steps to help you. Remember, they have a rep to maintain and build, so they want you to be happy. You're displaying their work, so how you feel and what you will then say to others matters to them.

Human beings are body modifiers, whether it's with weight and muscle, hair, clothing, fancy adornments, piercings, tattoos, or scarring. It all has meaning, whether it's a statement of wanting to fit in, wanting to stand out, signalling social or political standing, or expressing creativity and spirituality. A tattoo you get now that relates to your job may still have deep meaning for you after your job changes. It's a reminder of your history, and it also says something about what you value. So, you may still want that second tattoo.
