Yeah splitting this just makes me look bad. Then again, the mods don't seem to like me at the moment, so maybe that was their intention

Ahh, that's brilliant. Enjoy it before the mods decide it needs to be deleted :P

Aspie-Z

I don't think your'e a bad guy at all. I do think you get too hung up on this topic though. This is not the first time you've brought it up. It was split off for what I think are fairly obvious reasons. You posted it as a comment to another thread. Look at the responses you gotten to it. These would all be in that other thread, essentially hijacking it (not intentionally maybe, but still) if the mods hadn't split it off. They could have just deleted it, but I don't think that would have been right either. You do have the right to your opinion.

I don't see this as a flame against the original post or poster either. Not anymore anyway, because the mods obviously removed any trace of who it was and where it was, unless there wasn't anything there to trace it to begin with. That's fine with me. I don't want to know who or where it was.

I don't argue your right to your opinion on this, but I do not agree with some of the statements you made.

I agree that most people I know on the spectrum are generally better at this. But not everyone is. Those that are not are in the minority. When you post things like this, you are pretty much targeting that minority. I shouldn't have to say anymore about that.

Assuming everyone can "easily fix" grammatical and spelling errors using a spell checker, you have to also assume that everyone knows there is a spellchecker to be used, how to run it, and how to use it. Maybe you and I do, and maybe everyone you know with computer does, but that doesn't mean EVERYONE does. I know quite a few people who have no idea how to spell and grammar check with their computers. Some didn't even know it existed until i told them.

I just wish you would give people a break. It would be better to not let it bother you so much, but if you can't do that (I get it man. There's a lot of things that annoy the hell out of me that probably shouldn't), let it go and move onto something else. Dropping your off topic opinion about it in the middle of a thread doesn't accomplish anything productive. It just throws the thread off, risks pissing off the OP and other users, and more often than not, ends up split off into a thread of its own. If you don't like that happening, why post the remark at all?

Some things just are not worth getting worked up over. That's all. Take it or leave it. It's up to you.

MrXxx, you make a very fair point, and I've already dropped it.

As I said before, it was only meant to be a quick throwaway comment, but the fact that a mod split the thread without even making it clear that it was a split (until I edited the OP) rather than me making a whole new thread just to be an ass made me look bad, and that attracted even more response, so I replied. It was never my intention to go on about this for three pages at all.

Thanks for speaking logically and fairly.

i dunno why someone made such a flamewar-y thread:/

Ask the mod who split my reply

Wait, a minute... how does it get more flamey because it was separated? You said the things you did, directly to another member of the forum, in a thread where she was looking for a serious and sensitive discussion about something that bothered her, looking for private spaces to discuss her issues. She was not looking for ill mannered and inappropriate spelling and grammar criticisms, or a discussion about the merits of firefox, or pictures of flags.

If anything, edits have made your post much more fluffy and tame.

You'd complain if I just tossed your posts away, and I figured that people are allowed to discuss their obsessive compulsions if they want. So here we are.

You should at least make it clearer what you've done for people who click the thread. Put a little note at the top saying "This is off-topic conversation from so and so thread". And making the title "spelling nazi tech stuff and something political?" isn't exactly helpful either.

oh cummon, someone who makes a whole thread about someone's spelling is clearly much more of a dick, and is going to cause more of a fuss

Exactly. The way the thread was split without any prior explanation just makes me look bad.

True, I was in a hurry though. Lucky my fellow mods were around.

Next time I'll be sure to add a note.

It's descriptive. Want me to change it to something else?

maybe you should apologise for your sins and ask if the thread can be locked. because it's childish on both parts.

True, next time I will put more thought into these things.

I apologise to all the respectful members of WP.

If you make the title "Split off-topic conversation from another thread" then lock the bar steward, that'd be super :salut:

We're cool A-Z. I got nothing against you.

I may be in the process of creating my own pile of dung to step in as we speak. Nobody's perfect.

MrXxx, I am looking at your location and thinking you could be 'in front of' your mobile phone or another similar device. I vote for change.
