Why do people love going to Disneyland?
My answer will mostly be with DisneyWORLD as my frame of reference.
1. Some people got into Disney via the films. So they are paying to live WITHIN Disney for a week or so. People love being surrounded by what they enjoy.
2. For the rides. And lots of them. Some for children, some for adults, though not so much [but then, Universal Studios is nearby]
3. For immersion. Even the rides are totally in character with the theme of the ride or park. Staff members are CAST members and are acting out a part. Fantastic for people with an active imagination!
4. As others have said, it is such an escape from reality in a way which a trip to a city wouldn't be.
