over 2 decades or so, [@2 haircuts per year] i've probably saved at least $300 on haircuts due to my flowbee, almost enough money for me to splurge on one of john edwards' $400 fancy schmancy hair styling sessions. but i'd rather spend the saving on some more music.
the more typical guy who gets maybe 6 haircuts a year, might've saved nearly $1000 over the same time frame.

I started cutting my own hair back when I was at school in the early 80s. I'm actually in the middle of cutting it right now, but the trimmer's just broken :-S aaaargh!!

Yes. Can do hand measurements to keep it even.

Reasons being that they were always wanting to cut it too short, plus I was sick of all the small talk and upselling they were trying to do.

The first time I did it my mother just freaked out and cried and everything. Like I'd cut it and it'd never grow out again?! It wasn't a bad cut actually (with the kitchen scissors)and I've gotten better over the years. I hardly ever cut my knuckles anymore:-@
I just couldn't stand this barber touching my hair all the time! And why do they have to talk incessantly!? And ask questions... and never remember the answers for next time:-S

I don't, but my dad does. He does it because he doesn't want to pay the barber, because he says barbers charge too much, so he cuts it himself. That's why it's such a disaster.

The last time I needed a cut I found a Vietnamese barber I was pretty satisfied with. I've never been able to grow it to reach all the way to my shoulders; disaster for a rocker dude! About the last 5 years I've mostly just kept it short but not 'cop' short. Whenever I try to avoid paying a barber it always ends where people have to ask the question they know the answer to. I'd really love to be able to pull it off

Yes, I cut my husband's (easy with a pair of $20 clippers), and my own (less easy, shoulder length, hack with scissors until approximately even). The secret is not to rush, plus luckily I have a slight curl at the ends, which hides any unevenness pretty well. Been doing this for several years now, and nobody has noticed the difference.

Yes, i do it for a while now. Thought i was the only one.
Its good to save a few bucks and save on useless interactions with the barber.

As a kid, I did once. My friend and I were playing barber and we were cutting each other's hair. It was a disaster! My mom and her mom were so shocked and mad at us. Nowadays, I pretty much let other people cut my hair instead because it's easier that way.

Back in the day, along with Green Parkas boys used to have one of these

You could identify us K-Tell users by the bald gaps in our otherwise quite long 70s hair.

Since 1997 I have cut my own hair with a Wahl, am really quite good at it.
As soon as I retire though, Iam going to let it grow long again.

I'm always scared of going to the hairdresser but now that I'm keeping my hair short I have to go frequently... I often procrastinate on it, hahaha. Since I have very curly hair they are hard to cut efficiently and I have bad coordination so I'd rather fight my own fear.. And short hair means less sensory issues and less care, so in the end it is worth it :)

For the men who cut their own hair; how do you trim the nape region?
