i collect pens of all kinds, key chains, stuffed animals (though my collection dropped drastically after we lost some in storage), and Backstreet Boys stuff.

I'm teasing, only because the thread seems to be about tangible items acquired for the sake of collecting, rather than virtual items or items purchased in quantity for some other primary purpose (not stocks, not potatoes, not maintenance parts for something one owns, etc).

I was under the impression you had enough guns to count as a collection.

Sure, they have a distinct primary purpose (besides being collected), but once you've got more of a tool than one can reasonably use at once it's fair to call it a collection. (At least, I tell my dad he's got a Datsun collection because he's got more than one, none of which are his daily).

When people treat collectibles like stocks they become more of a speculator than a collector.

I collect books on various special interests.

When I was a kid, I had a rock collection. As a young person, I collected fairy figurines because I was obsessed with fairies. Most of them broke during a tumultuous move in my adulthood. I figured they were broken like I was.
