I may not be that old yet but I remember what a VHS is. xD I also remember waiting impatiently for a tape to rewind and the 'whirring sound' it made when it did rewind.

We still have an VHS and DVD player combined and have a small collection of VHS tapes but mostly copy the VHS tape to a DVD.

I know what a VHS is. But I wasn't alive when the LPs were commonly used by everyone, but I still know what they are.

Me. I can still remember when my mother and I had a whole chest-full of VHS tapes. Damn, do I feel old, and I was a youngster myself when they started to fall out of use.

My ex-girlfriend's 9 year old son was conversing with his 18 year old brother. The older brother mentioned that they once had a certain film on VHS. The 9 year old asked "What's a VHS?" to which the older brother replied "Oh, it's like a music tape". The kid didn't know what one of those was either :/ This exchange made me feel old.

I purposefully avoided mentioning Betamax as even the 18 year old wouldn't have known about that and I would have felt even more old :(

A multiregion BD player would be excellent, especially with a good sound system and a large screen.

Bear in mind that you won't see the benefit of BD discs unless you have a large screen.

I noticed the opposite with my DVDs. When I played them on my computer, they were much crisper and I could see details that I hadn't noticed before when watching them on our flatscreen TV.

How good it looks mostly depends on adjusting the video settings correctly, and also sitting the optimal distance from the HDTV screen which is often pretty close.

I taped a lot of stuff from 1998-2008; they get viewed periodically as a memoir of all the good times (esp. the stuff I taped from 1999-2000).

So do I, most being from my childhood, along with a DVD player that's also a VHS player.

Yes, I still remember them. Ancient technology. When we finally get rid of the last VHS tape, mankind will finally be able to follow the path to Enlightenment.

I have a VHS player, but have not used it since being given it.

I have used Betacam and its successors more recently (although not Betamax).
