Anything before about 1850 isn't really interesting to me, but I love a lot of the 20th century classical that I've heard. I need to listen to more.

Some of the better ones of those I have heard -

John Cage
Charles Ives
Harry Partch
Igor Stravinsky
Tōru Takemitsu
Edgard Varèse
Frank Zappa
John Zorn

I like your taste.

i like all kinds of music even if i am very picky about what i listen to. i like baroque music a lot because it is never too showy or pretensious (like some classical music can be) and baroque pieces always have interesting counterpoint and a nice combination of the melody and harmony. i especially like bach since his music is so rythmic and mathematical. yet, rhythm and theory is not everything, which is why i often do not like pieces by Mozart and Haydyn since they fail to combine emotional subtlety with theory and rhythm. my favorite composer is most likely Chopin since, like Bach, he has almost never composed a terrible piece.
