I used to have a German Shepherd, but had to give it to my Uncle when I moved from South Africa to England.

I have heard about that type of cat before. Do you need a special permit to own them?

Are these the type of cat you are talking about? I saw an article on MSN awhile ago about them, they seem very cool!

Yes, they are Pixie Bobs. I don't think they require a permit as they are considered a domestic breed. I'm not really sure so I'll ask and find out for you.

I agree. One of our dogs is a Cavalier King Charles spaniel. She is a little dog, but I like that breed because they have big dog personalities. For the most part they are really pretty (except occasionally they can look odd). Oh well... our's is pretty.

I like dogs, but I have a secret (or not so secret ;) ) admiration of cows. Why cows you ask? Well I live in a place where they are in aboundance and god forbid they rise up and deny us our milk and cheese heh.

I also like wierd animals other than dogs. I like penguins (due to the amusing thought of a penguin using a gun), wombats (due to them being amusing) and sharks (as they can kill). But with the cow army, I do not think they will have the guts to rebel until the penguins create the Penguin Republic of Antarctica.

Mixes are ok but purebreed German Sheperds are the best. I used to have one named Baron with near-human intelligence and was a great family dog. I also (still) have a Sheperd, Heidi, that is part husky that is basically the equivalent of a dumb blonde. My mom has a Sheperd-Great Dane mix, Roxy, that is borderline ret*d by dog standards (which can be funny at times).

Wow, that's very odd. My friend in high school had a purebred German Sheperd who was also rather dumb. She ran into walls frequently. She also developed a very bad hip problem, which I have heard is common in purebred German Sheperds, which is why I thought a mix would be better. I have heard in general that mix-breeds tend to be better because they have less of the inbred traits than purebreds do.

There is a large gene pool for German Sheperds to be bred from. Inbreeding is purely do to breeders not seeking out new dogs for their existing group to mate with and is inexcusable.
Hip problems are common in older German Shepards but don't necessarily affect their quality of life.

Yep, German Shepherds are great dogs and pretty hardy generally, though in my opinion they are strong willed so need to be taught who is in charge, lol. My dog is a german shepherd/border collie cross and is headstrong, but good natured to the point of being soppy. He has a love/fear relationship with the kids (i.e he loves the attention but isn't too crazy about the toddler trying to ride on him, or our daughter dressing him up... )

My dog, Quaffle, who is German Shepherd/Golden Retriever (he looks exactly like a German Shepherd, except his facial features are those of a Golden Retriever) is really smart. Everyone who meets him also says that he is the most affectionate dog they have ever met. He loves everybody! He is also easy-going, but can get hyper if he hasn't been for a walk for a while. He is a mix and a great dog.

Ferrets! Ferrets ferrets ferrets. Ferrets are fun and cute and bouncy; they don't worship you, they don't disdain you, they just treat you like a big happy thing. They are soo fast and sleek and boneless and they POUNCE things and hide stuff away for safe keeping. They can live in a cage and be happy, not insane like cats. They can periscope up, have tons of whiskers on a really really good sniffer. They can fit in the tiniest little holes. They're the only mustelid aside from the skunk who like cuddling and are safe to be around (depending on the ferret: some are biters!). They have beautiful sleek coats, and I love the way their rump is so humpy and round, and they're basically like little furry frankfurters, though they aren't green and blue like real fuzzy frankfurters.

They can be lazy and laaaze the day away, and then they can play and boom! Weasel War Dance. They like to climb and burrow, and um... are very friendly (if rough) with each other, and sometimes even get attached to a favorite plush toy, resulting in some cuuute photographs!

Um... the author of this post claims not to be a ferret, despite any above evidence to the contrary.

Hey, where's Mich? I'm not the only one here with a ferret fixation, and she's got actual experience with the critters!

Yeah, intelligent or not, they do tend to decide for themselves which commands they think suit their best intrests. When Baron started getting old and senile, he was really bad about that.

Your dog dosen't like kids riding on him because it hurts his hips. Some dogs have hips that can handle that, but German Sheperds aren't one of those dogs.

The German Shepard I used to have tried to ride people in the sense that it put its paws on your shoulders and walked on its hind legs. Something like that.

I love cats.

they are pure lazy, they care more about their territory than other people (unlike dogs). And they are downright rude to the general public :D

...kinda bit like me ;)

Definitely Cats. I can understand and relate my cats better than I can other humans.
