There used to be a type of pen I really liked called Liquid Expresso. It was widely available, not too expensive and had a good, smooth-flowing ink that didn't skip or smudge easily, or bleed into the paper. Some of my personal favorite drawings and illustrations I made with that kind of pen. But now I can't find it anywhere, and all the pens I've bought recently were terrible. I even thought I was losing my ability to draw well, but I think mainly it's because poorly made pens and pencils put strain on my hand, and smear more easily because I'm a lefty.
Guess I'm going to have to see if the craft store has anything good, though it'll probably be a lot more expensive.

in the pop music realm, stereophonic master tapes have been more or less routinely being produced since 1958, and as late as the 60s and 70s stereo reissues of stereo originals were the rule. then when CD finally came out in 1983, it seems those stereo mastertapes somehow got lost and the bulk of the reissues of 50s and 60s hits were coming out in monophonic sound. some of it is perversely intentional, like producer bill inglot [rhino records] deciding [like phil spector] that he liked the sound of mono better as general principal, and some of it is carelessness on the part of the record companies for not having properly stored their master tapes, or of outright neglect. in either way, having heard the stereo originals, I miss them. :|

Woolworths. How I miss it. Also House of Fabric.

The other perfect thing, a tv that was free. You young ones probably don't even recall those days. No cable.
Just turn on the set, and any channel came on. No clickers.

And funky fries.

cars that had the "magic carpet ride" over rough roads where all the bumps would be filtered out. nowadays they tune car suspensions to handle like formula one racers but as a result you can feel every infernal bump on the road. oh, and color paint jobs/car interior, nowadays everything is some shade of metallic gray or beige or black, UGH! and the styling! :eew: 99.99% of new cars nowadays look like they were stamped in a tonka toy mold, small windows and blocky styling, no more flowing curves, why can't they bring back pretty cars?

I've had foods I really liked be discontinued more than once. Once there was a cereal I really liked called Banana Crunch Cornflakes, and they stopped selling it because it was apparently "not a popular seller". :x

'Van De Kamps' Bakeries (Los Angeles Area) conveniently located at our neighborhood supermarket chain at the time. The 'Spritz Cookies' were fantastic!! !!

Privacy.

The young ones in our midst will not know what it was, but I remember.

RIP Privacy. You were gone too soon.

Cheeseburgers.

An ordinary ground beef patty, fried with a little salt and pepper, with a slice of Velveeta partially melted on top, and served on a lightly-toasted 'burger roll.

No fillers, no pink slime, no garlic, no special sauce ... Just a plain, ordinary cheeseburger that actually tastes good!

How are those unavailable though?....i mean sure fast food places aren't going to have that. But pretty sure a grocery store would carry all the ingredients. I do have to say though I do not get the trend of putting extra fillers like that on a cheesburger...I mean its a sad day when I go to get a burger and have to specifically ask for no mayo, added sauce or anything else aside from cheese, burger and bun.

It still exists, just does not extend to information that gets out on the internet....or your location if you have a smart phone and haven't disabled the setting on your phone that tracks your location, used for google maps and what not.

Also, I've been buying about 5 regular lightbulb packages every time I go to Wal-Mart (a dollar and some change, for 4), cuz I just don't like those CFLs (or, whatever they're called), cuz they emit some kind of gas, or something----they smell real chemical-like when they're getting ready to burn-out----plus, I heard somewhere that they emit a "gas"----THEN, I read somewhere that they let-off a gas----and that concerns me.....

You might want to watch this German documentary:- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x0x3rbHFwQU
I like to point out to the receptionists at work that though their computer monitor is restricted by law to the amount of dirty electricity it radiates, the CFL light bulb sitting the same distance from their head radiates 70 times more than computer monitor. So I bought boxes of the old light bulbs on e-Bay, more than I will ever need, maybe they will be worth something soon and I can make a profit.

Oh, bummer----I wish I COULD watch your link; but, I still have Dial-up Internet, and it would probably take about 6 hours, to download. Thanks, for posting it though!

Oh, geez----I hadn't heard THAT about the CFLs----that makes them, even WORSE, IMO!!

-a touch-screen mobile phone with a full physical qwerty keyboard that slides in and out

Really? I could've SWORN that I saw one of those recently----cuz, I've always wanted one like that, as well----it just figures that they don't make them anymore.....

-a certain foamy body wash

I have a habit of worrying about my favorite products getting discontinued and buying ridiculously many of them. For example, I have about 40 bottles of my favorite foamy hand soap (and am thinking to buy more). I still have some refill bags of above foamy body wash. I'm so glad that I bought many when they were available. Obviously I cannot do that with food.

Thankyou, Thankyou, THANKYOU for posting this!! I've been wanting to post to this thread, since day ONE, but couldn't think of anything----knowing, FULL-WELL, that I've experienced this (the items-no-longer-available thing)! !

Anyway, you reminded of the time I found some hand-soap that I really liked----it was UNscented, not too runny (YUCK!), etc., and I bought 5 or so, every time I went shopping, just KNOWING that they would discontinue it----and, SURE-ENOUGH they DID!!

Regarding the mobile phones, I think USA people have a far wider range to choose from. Whenever I see a nice handset online, it's limited to contracts with some USA carrier. A few years ago when I was looking for a sliding-physical-qwerty-keyboard touch-screen phone, there was absolutely none available here in W Australia. A year or two before that, there had been a few but they also gradually disappeared from the market.

Oh, I see.....

Unscented liquid hand soap sounds fantastic.

Yeah, it was great----too bad I don't have any more----that was years, ago. They have some at "Trader Joe's"----I also got a real nice unscented hand lotion, there.

For some reason, most hand soaps tend to have sickeningly strong artificial fruit/floral smell.

Oh, I know----tell me about it----they make me retch.

It's hard to find a decent one. The one I use now has a grapefruit smell. It's one of the few that I like. I always worry that it will become unavailable soon. I'm sure it will because it doesn't seem to be very popular.

You better stock-up, NOW!

Speaking of retching..... I'm with VegetableMan, in that just reading about that Turkey / Dressing soda, made my stomach lurch.

Another thing I wanted to list----it's not really a "no-longer-available" thing, but..... I was extremely angry when I bought my favorite toilet paper, last time----it's the kind that comes-in "double rolls"----EXCEPT, that I noticed they are making those little cardboard thingies larger, in circumference----so, one is no longer getting the same amount of toilet paper!! Things like that really tick-me-off!!

Tuna, too, used to be in an EIGHT-ounce can----NOW they're SIX-ounce cans----and, if you buy them in those packs of 4, it's FOUR-ounce cans. I was buying those 4-pack packages, until I noticed that----so now, if I just wait for the dollar-a-can sale, it's much better.....

I've pretty much come to accept that privacy doesn't exist on the internet, or anywhere you have a cell phone. I even use my phone as a GPS now. :P

The original scoopable kitty litter. All the brands changed something. It is more like litter before they came out with scoopable. I have some containers of Advance brand that works well but they discontinued that brand. Now, I wish I had bought every package they had before it was gone.
