goldfish, I understand that with utilitarianism one person can be sacrificed for the sake of the majority, but in reality no one does that quite literally. People have the right to complaint, at the very least. And, if a larger group (yet still a minority) is affected then they can protest.
Football is better than video games? I consider that the most outrageous thing you've said so far... if you help gay people, who have usually been prejudiced against in their lives, you must understand that prejudice against *anything* is illogical. Video games (RPGs) have shown me that they can be masterpieces of art, and if you haven't tried one I suggest you do so before you feel free to discriminate against anything.
Ultimately, you know nothing about my life and if you can't see my point of view whatsoever then perhaps don't feel so certain. I can argue with you on logical grounds, but not if you're steadfast in your prejudice.
Sure, people can complain and protest about things. I just don't think you have something valid to complain about unless it's causing excessive noise during times noise bylaws are in effect. Here, that's 11pm-7am. If people have loud music on after 11pm, cops ge called to shut down parties. But between 7am-11pm, almost anything goes.
Yes, football is better than video games
by the criteria I use to define "better." YMMV, but to me football is better because it's an active activity that's infinitely healthier for people than the sedentary act of playing video games. FYI, I don't play football or video games but I'd rather hear the noise of kids kicking a ball around than know that they're sitting inside playing video games. I don't find sounds like that annoying. I appreciate the fact that people are having fun and keeping fit and thus can very easily accept that it might create a little noise.
Prejudice? I care equally as little about playing football or video games, so I don't really have a bias besides being pro fitness/health/exercise. Have you never considered the importance of that in peoples' lives? I, too, can be logical.. we're just simply miles apart on our opinions. It seems you're far too hung up on irrational fears of a soccer ball breaking through your window and damaging your landlord's blinds & are overreacting to an improbable hypothetical situation.
