If I were a god?

A mix between a sadistic god who likes to toy lives of mortals as a test and a nurturing guardian who watch over mortal lives for fun. In other words, I'm both the big good and the big bad that makes or breaks people.

Wasn't talking about me. I was talking about humans in general, why doesn't he punish his own enemies? Or at least make life horrible for evil people? I guess he's too busy ignoring starving babies.
Let me expand that...in the universe, what makes you think that this tiny, itty bitty, piece of something floating around is all that consequential in the grand scheme of things? And how do you presume to know what a God's enemies are?

AspE, do you still believe in some form of metaphysics, like the attainment of a higher plane of existence in Buddhism? I know you reject any beliefs of a supernatural deity.

An all powerful god that would smite my enemies and reward my friends. You know, like God is supposed to do but doesn't for some reason.

Now, AspE I think you can answer the reason why :D
Either he doesn't care, or he doesn't exist.

Or maybe he's just really moody, like a petulant teenager.
Or maybe YOUR problems don't register on a universal scale.

Be careful with this argument, if these problems do not register on a 'universal scale' then that would effectively nullify God's omnipresence and all powerful nature.

Actually no. It nullifies our importance.

Because God said so in a book. Of course you could define God in an infinite number of ways that don't relate to any sacred text, but I certainly can't respond to an infinite number of concepts.

I've tasted that so-called attainment, and it's such the opposite of being lifted by the seat of your pants to a higher plane that it's like a slap in the face. There's nothing you can do but laugh at yourself for being so obtuse. Then you go on with your day.

No, people said so in a book. And that book has been refined many times and even changed to suit the mores and customs of the times.

And, nobody says you have to respond to any of them at all. But, you are choosing this one to justify your position. So be it.

I choose to actually expand my world to try to understand things and not lock onto something that bugs the crap out of me (Most times) by way of alternate thoughts.

Some readings of the texts you describe say you're born a sinner and will die a sinner..basically you're doomed. Some readings of that same text say it is a loving god.

And every damn person who started a war ALWAYS said "God is on their side."
Can't be on both sides at once.

And, maybe, just maybe you have to learn to overcome things and just not have it magically go away by some belief system.

I'm an atheist. And by the way every God invented promises something in return for belief, and tries to explain away the apparently randomness of reality. None really seem to deliver.

Anyway, as a God, I would make some changes around here. I would install shower heads on the wailing wall in Jerusalem, so Jews could wash their hair while pretending to talk to me, and I would turn the Dome of the Rock into a gay bathhouse, just for spite. All TV preachers would grow long wooden noses whenever they asked for money. And whenever Republicans try to park in an empty space, they would find it occupied by a smart car.
