An aerial shot of lava flow covering what used to be a subdivision (notice the streets) - this picture is about a month old. The volcano is Kilauea Volcano, about 30 minutes from where I live:

I took this from the top of a parking garage. It has a great example of typical spindley wimpy front range cloud coverge that always fails to shield my sensitive eyes from the horrible horrible sun:

What's the texture of the sand like? Black sand seems weird to me.

Apatura, I thought your last post was a reference to living near Sesame St. I only saw the link to real photos.

Many of the shops reminded me of Preston/Northcote in Melbourne
