It's a tossup between maples and a certain type of pine. I have four maples in my yard and they're very climbable. (I used to love to do that before my OCD got bad.) They're also fun to watch bloom in the spring and so colorful in the fall. One of our trees even stops traffic in the fall!

But there's a certain type of pine tree that looks really pretty in the evening sun. (I have yet to learn to post pictures on the internet.) I think it might be a Red Pine.

Here on the leafy eastern seaboard of the USA the most majestic trees are the tulip poplars.

HUGELY tall. straight as a ship's mast. Much straighter than their comparably massive oak neighbors. Their leaves are aerodynamically designed so they fold up in the wind- in contrast to the wild shaking that oak leaves do in the wind. So tulip poplars can grow straighter than oaks and they dont need as strong wood as oaks. And they dont fall on your house as often as oaks. Though their wood is not really suited for things like ship's masts, but is well suited for indoor furniture.

I enjoy lying against a big, old tree. I don't know if I have a current favorite, but I can remember enjoying these giant beech trees in the cool woods when I was little. They were so smooth.

I also like apple trees and orange trees. Some of the best trees grow food. :)

The Fir. The Larch. The Mighty Scots Pine.

Seriously, probably the palm and any tree that bears fruit.
