That's exactly why I don't like Trans Siberian Orchestra's version. Guitars with distortion sounds ugly and just that, distorted. I prefer the smooth sound of violins, pianos, and horns.

I like violin for the record and pianos, horns not so much but guitar is my fav

A very English rendering of a very American carol, based on a fragment of an Appalachian folk melody:

And don't forget that Hanukkah begins tonight at sundown, even in Santa Monica:

"El Baghdadi Got Run Over By a Reindeer"

Not a real song yet. Someone should record a song of that title to replace the now dated "Osama Got Run Over By a Reindeer" by Bob Rivers.

Surely the head of ISIS deserves that fate more than does some innocent Grandma!

Not a piece of music, but surely the most famous Christmas broadcast ever made, and probably heard live by more people than any broadcast in human history to that point.

It's December 1st, and Christmas music is officially allowed once again! :D Post your favorites, or the latest you've heard.

The highlight of the season is WQXR's Holiday Channel, back online today -- enjoy the best of Classical Christmas music and carols, and other holiday favorites. (They just finished playing some Charlie Brown Christmas music a minute ago.) Listen live here:

One of the local radio stations was advertising that they were going all Christmas music starting the Friday before ThanxGiving
