I was kind of into Pokemon in 1999, but my new hometown didn't have any fans of that franchise then.

I mainly remember that year for the hype around the first new Stars Wars movie in 16 years, The Phantom Menace. I was 13 at the time and my interest in Star Wars was pretty much at its peak. I had tons of merchandise related to the movie including all the main character action figures. I now think that the movie is easily the worst one of the Star Wars franchise but I enjoyed it at the time.

Aside from that, there's not much else of note that I can remember from that year. I was reasonably happy at school. A new guy joined our class who I became very close friends with. I used the internet for the very first time at my sister's university. My family went on holiday to the Greek island of Rhodes which I really enjoyed. And I remember the millennium night celebrations. I went to watch the firework display that was on in central London to mark the occasion. I also seem to recall being somewhat concerned about the millennium bug but of course it turned out to be a fuss about nothing,

Lol I don't remember anything that happened in 1999. But I was born on that year though. June 17th, 1999 is the day I was born.
