Returning members create new accounts all the time or long time lurkers create an account just to post something.

You mean ... like a troll?

Why would it be trolling if you forget your login information or if you decide to start posting after lurking for a while?

Since accounts are never deleted anybody coming back under another name has 2 wrong planet accounts and sans permission from Alex are in violation of site rules.

I agree with Fnord. There are some people who expect to have their hand held along the way. Instead of taking suggestions, they keep moaning. I remember trying to help someone with some suggestions and a bit of encouragement. He kept going on about how miserable he was. I'd also like to say that I don't take sides and I'm on everyone's side. We forget that WP is a support site and we all have social issues. We're all welcome here including Fnord.

That rule doesn't seem to be enforced. It was under the old staff team in 2008-2010. But yet there were still some members who had an alternate account but no longer used their other one. I was one of them.

They are difficult to catch.

As you said there are non neferious reasons to want to do this. Besides just forgetting the original password some of us feel our usernames does not reflect where we are at the moment. But it can get tricky determaning who is doing it for legit reasons and who is doing it to troll or spam so I can understand the rule being there for every situation. But if it is there best efforts should be made to enforce it, if not drop or amend it.

Part of that could be amended by allowing user name change. But the idea of anything on this forum being changed, repaired or amended is obviously quite out of the question.

You and I have very similar backgrounds, opinions, posting styles & objections from people here.

Well meaning advisors who conduct themselves properly like krafitekortie for example, rarely if ever encounter or deal with such issues or garner a tarnished reputation. Those who do should most likely be blaming themselves alone for it, rather than paying victim/martyr and admonishing the audience. They are the ones who turned people against them. They alone are to blame for their situation.

Your attitude towards me seems pretty terrible considering that I’m only here to teach others what causes these symptoms in them and how they can live better lives.

How that’s a bad thing and deserving of your rudeness & negativity is something I’ll never understand.

I just don't understand why some people here don't like the way I say things! What's wrong with them!? They all need to change their ways, not me!

People complain but only until they find what answer/situation that they need to push them or create the "ah ha!" moment. It's not really about self pity as it's really about the feeling of being in what feels like a helpless loop.

Many of us have been through pain, but when we survive it, we tend to forgot how hard our struggles really were. That's why sometimes when we go to give advice to those in similar situations we can end up giving bad advice or advice that to the listener sounds confusing. Eg; how do you describe the sun to those who've never seen it? A description of it being orange and hot, may be useless to the listener until they see it for themselves.

It can all come down to whether the person feels they have the resources or capacity to implement said advice. Or maybe there is a factor that they haven't shared that causes most advice that's given to them to be rendered useless.

Maybe they're afraid they'll fail to implement the advice given to them or how hard the journey will be getting to a better place in life? Some people are use to chaos and so when they go to do the right things for their lives it seems terrifying being closer to stability.

Everyone solves problems at a different rates; some find what algorithm(s) works best for them quicker than others.
