A lot. Tool songs, for example, are often about perception, philosophy, consciousness and politics. Amon Amarth is almost exclusively based on Norse mythology. A Perfect Circle have some "love" songs but are usually political.

There are many more. I think most pop songs are usually about love or superficial pursuits. You may just be looking in the wrong places.
