Me too!

Worst case scenario it's the most expensive Taco 2-22-2022'sDay ever!

Weather should be clear & sunny, but fairly cold. Should make for some nice views from the ferry on the hour or so trip over to the island! Also, I haven't been there for ~24+ years, so whatever, a few bills for a once in a quarter century day trip isn't the end of the world even IF the car doesn't come back with me.

Car did not check out as worth buying. :/

Having a really nice pub lunch, bought a bunch of beers and alcohol I can’t get on the mainland. Gonna go to a deli and buy this really good whole grain mustard my brother always brings back from the island. Bought 6 dozen farm fresh eggs from the guy with the car for sale. Will likely have some kind of dinner in Victoria before we leave. Still a decent day and worth the trip to find out that this is Not a car like this I can have on the road for $5-6k. Ah well.

6+ types of beer, 6 dozen eggs, whiskey, gin, rum, and a bunch of very expensive mustard from some gourmet deli.

With the ferry trip and lunch for 3 it was a several hundred dollar adventure, but whatever - booze and mustard will keep just fine.

Yep! I forgot I also bought a jar of some fancy organic unpasteurized kimchi.

We didn't feel like going to check out any museum, art gallery, government buildings or fancy restaurants with the 2-3 hours we had to kill, so we just drove around and did a little sight seeing. Drove over a bridge into Esquimalt to the gates of CFB Esquimalt (Canadian Forces Base - Navy.) and snapped a pic in a Tsunami Hazard Zone. It was really cold so we didn't want to wander around on foot much.

Also had some valuable conversations with my uncle about the whole new family drama stuff going on with the Ministry (of children and family development) and all of the players and stakeholders involved and the various ways these things could play out and how we'll have to adjust our strategy to get our desired outcome should ABC or XYZ happen. While not super in depth, there was some value in talking through these things.

Chat wasn't all serious, though. Lots of conversations about cars and road trips and laughs etc, too. 8)

Also, I swung by my parents' last night to check on them and deliver fresh eggs, uber expensive mustard, drop off beers I'll slowly consume, And open both an award winning bottle of gin from the island as well as a high end bottle of rum I've never seen for sale anywhere before so I could sample them And tell my parents to feel free to drink 'em if they want vs. leave them sealed. The Brugal 1888 (rum) was unbelievably smooth - my mom doesn't really drink rum but she sipped some straight and agreed. No sense in my dad not drinking "the good stuff," in his final chapter of life - so I'm happy to spend the $ on pricey bottles he'd never splash the cash on.

Guess you could be counted as a pretty good son …. , Wish you could share some of that stuff, the quality 1888
Rum , With members of WP … would love to be first in line to have a sip .. Just so I could say I tasted it . Before my time comes too. Am sure glad you did not get sold a pig in a poke . Been through that on a 1980s. Vintage Dodge
P/U Truck. That I ended up paying to have both a engine and transmission rebuilt .
With world affairs and what not , probably a good time to conserve money . But a lovely day trip Sounds like a little vacation .

I’m glad you had good visits with family and made something of your trip to the island.
