Anyone else think this is a little arrogant, or at least, an inefficient way to post?

Arrogant to sign correspondence? What are you, crazy?

Seriously. Just dont do it. What is the point? We know it is you. Is this some sort of secret signal in case your account is hijacked, and we should be suspicious if your posts arent signed? Stop yourselves. You dont need to verify every post with a signature.
Talk about dripping with arrogance.
gwenevyn is exactly right in that it is a matter of style, and jrknothead is exactly right in that it is an archaic artifact. And I take great joy in being archaic.
I sign everything exactly the same way; work e-mails, personal e-mails, written notes, forum posts, blog posts. Don't matter a whit. I'm even so archaic as to always include a closing salute. Before I came up with "Good fortune", I used "Cheers". But then everyone else started doing that, and I hated getting an e-mail at work when someone signed "Cheers" and I'd send them back the same; felt like a copy-cat. So I made one up that is, as far as I know, uniquish, based on my penchant for luck. "Godspeed" was a close second, but has religious connotations I'd rather avoid.
Good fortune,
