hmm, you don't like stealth games? Have you tried Metal Gear Solid? or the Splinter Cell series? Those are great, and available for the PC.

Do you like strategy games? There's a really sweet one that's not too expensive. It's got a cold war theme and plays like an uber-advanced version of battleship. I hate battleship and I love this game (free demo):

I loved the Fallout games... I even harken back to Wastland as Fallout 0. I'm sooo looking forward to Fallout 3. Bethesda's doing it, and I've got some pretty high hopes....

S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow Over Chernobyl (available on Direct2Drive for ~30$) - a great FPS + survival horror + a dash of RPG. If you liked the Fallout games, this one is for you....

And anyone who missed Halflife and especially Halflife 2 can't rightly call themselves a gamer.

RTS: DEFCON (Nuclear warfare) everybody-dies.com, Total Annihilation (good luck getting hold of a legal copy of that though,its a decade old in a week ) and Dawn of War.oh yeah,and it goes without mention,but the whole Total War series.

FPS: Half-Life 2.no questions.

Simulation: Silent Hunter (U-Boat sim,really hard but oh,so worth learning )

oddball: Garry's Mod 10 (if you haven't played it,and you try Gmod9,be aware they are total different now (www.garrysmod.com), Bontago (a physics game,defies explanation)

RPG: Final Fantasy 7.the best of the series (in my opinion),The Elder Scrolls III:Morrowind or TES IV:Oblivion. dont get them on the Xbox! you dont get access to the mods! (which is a huge loss for these two,as there are some awesome mods for both)

Rachet and clank Gladiator...

For PC try Star Wars: Knights of the old republic if you haven't already.

How long does it last for? I was thinking about getting a game today, for my PS3, it's my birthday, after all.

Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2 seems good, until you look at the reviews. The single player seems too short for me, when it's EVERYTHING if you want to play for long hours!
