I haven't been inside a phone booth in years! It's kind of a nostalgia trip to think about those. Anyone else have any memorable phone booth experiences?

As a kid, yes. As a teenager I began using a mobile (cell) phone, so the phone boxes became redundant for me, as they did for many other people.

I avoid them as an adult as I still use a mobile phone and the phone boxes are usually either smashed out or extremely dirty.

Of course I have. I even remember the "button A / button B" type. I'm a working class borderline baby-boomer, family couldn't afford a landline till the 1970s. Examples:

Happiest: Calling a friend to hear that she'd arranged my first date ever.

Unhappiest: Calling same friend to hear that the girl was going out with some other guy.

Most exciting: Using a trick to hear dial-a-disc for free and attracting the attention of two policemen.

I remember the early phone-booths - which after awhile became too confining. Phone-booths were phased-out in favor of open-air public telephone kiosks - yet open-air phones increasingly felt less private than phone-booths.

The Wikipedia listing on 'Phone Booths' is an interesting read: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Telephone_booth

I've been in arguably the most famous phone box (police box to be precise).

I'm an authentic old geezer, so of course I have. Only way you could call when in town.

All the time as a kid in England, not so much as an adult in Australia.

I may also have been in the one that is bigger on the inside than the outside

When I was a kid yes
I made full use of reverse charge phone calls on them untill I was old enough to have my own cell phone.
Haven't touched one in a while though, but we have a couple still spread around town.
I could imagine it being useful in an emergency situation so I'm glad we have them

I remember spending hours in a phone box trying to get through to Swap Shop (UK kids show). Never managed it.

Can even remember the number: 01 811 8055

Funny you mention it, I was in a phone booth just the other day, and it made me think of the old times when you'd find them near casinos. There's a certain charm to them. Do you like visiting casinos as well?

No, I don't like visiting casinos. I am not a gambler. :)

I'm pretty sure I have.

I've never gambled in a casino but there is one in the state that has a little shop that sells fresh Krispy Kreme donuts. Sometimes I'll go there to buy two donuts.

A friend of mine loves those doughnuts! Never heard of them before he mentioned them. But in the UK it is rare tofind them unless one lives near a big city which most people don't.
