In the town my girlfriend grew up, Cabbage Night was just as big or bigger than Halloween. Cabbage Night is the night before Halloween when people committe random acts of vandalism. Cass's immediate family were the biggest targets in the neighborhood due to her family being extremely poor while most everyone else in town was middle-class. I never heard of Cabbage Night till she told me about it. I have heard of some people committing vandalism on Halloween night but didn't know the night before was for that purpose.

^ Halloween in the UK turned into egging and antiquing night at some point when I was younger. Shops today ban the selling of eggs to under 18's around Halloween time.

What is wrong with people, why wouldn't they target the most rich family, at least they'd probably have cleaning crews to clean that up, but sure throw s**t at the poorest family that did nothing to them.

Never even heard of that. Must be a very localized tradition - like.. only people who live right there where she's from have a thing called "cabbage night," where they sort of separate the "trick," part of "trick or treat," and pull tricks on neighbours all night. That's weird.

I used to, but got bored with it, and lately all the stereotyped plastic Halloween rubbish that the shops display has put me off even more. Why do these things always have to involve buying stuff and throwing it away afterwards?

I'm used to that being called Devil's Night.

It can be a nice excuse for target practice.

Yahooo.. thanks to this post am feeling much less weird for having my own collection of stuff for decor....for the
Feast of All Hallows Eve. My GF got a life sized skellie ( in Plastic) that actually has ( not just posable arms and legs)
but possable fingers too. And those immediately got sold out , (of course ).. Threatened to steal it out of her car,
If she kept driving around with it as a passenger. "doing a hang ten" ,posable finger in the window. :skull: :skull:

I've never celebrated Halloween. Not properly anyway. Sometimes I have pumpkin soup or pumpkin cake but that's about it. It's the night where you turn off your lights, close the curtains and pretend not to be in so you don't have to interact with trick or treaters.

When I have a place of my own, I'd like to decorate for Halloween. I'll even be nice and have some sweets in just in case the door rings. My parents aren't fans of the holiday. I never went trick or treating. Haven't dressed up since I was about six and that was when I was taken along to a work do party.

I'd like to do something for Halloween one year. Not this year though, I'm busy revising for two upcoming interviews at the start of November. Maybe next year.
