It has been a very mild fall but that is forecasted to change.

I have always found it harder to get used to cold weather than hot weather. While it is still harder for me to get used to cold weather, as I age I find it harder to get used to any change in temperatures.

I am not one of those autistics who prefer to stay in my residence 24/7. I like to go on long walks. I used to love to walk during snowstorms especially. I still take my walks in the cold weather but since my stroke and cancer, it is not advisable for me to walk in snow and ice, so I stay inside on those days. If it is bitterly cold(or extremely hot) sans snow and ice I still take my walks but make them much shorter.

Got some light snow (no accumulation) today in central-western CT. It was bizarre because it was like 43 degrees! Like all day yesterday it was in the 30s and rained, but today it's in the 40s and snowed? I understand some details about meteorology (one could say it was hyperfocus of mine as a child), and how the temperature at different atmospheric levels influences what precip we get, but it's still weird.

Starting to get the first mild frosts. Don't know how bad the weather will get.

Last year it was so cold that we had to limit the temperature of the air conditioning because anything above something not really warm enough is likely to kill the unit. So we supplemented with a simple space heater. Lucky for us the landlord pays the electricity bill.

I got snowed in for a few days and was running out of food. Only one pair of boots, leather, and no boot polish in the house. But there was a tub of lanolin so I used that. Worked very well, boots are still in good condition and I got my groceries without getting my trouser legs too badly soaked.

Worst part was when the water company's pumps started to fail and they announced shutdowns and a boil order, meaning tap water not safe for drinking. It wasn't easy to stay comfortable, but we managed it.

It's not very cold here but it's still cold enough that I don't like it. Today was 60F and overnight it will go down to 43F. I don't really have heat except a space heater and at night I find that it's enough to have a couple of blankets with no heater on, but it still makes me uneasy and sometimes I have to wake up to put on or take off a blanket, which disrupts my sleep.

Saw a little snow in Connecticut as I was doing the last lawn mowing of the year!
Ran the engine dry and changed the oil.

Need to buy fresh gas for the snowblower! Got some Ethanol Shield fuel stabilizer to put in it.
Think the lawnmower was running a little rough with ten months old gasoline.

Put foam covers over the water faucets to prevent them from freezing.

Looks like it's already here. Maybe not officially but it snowed today here in Detroit.

We are at the edge of winter. The temperatures fell to 13.3 degrees F ( -10.4 degrees C) last night.
Cold weather is on the horizon.

This reminds me to caution everyone about one of the dangers. It is low humidity. When the humidity gets too low, below 10 percent, it can become very dangerous. Why??????????
Well because COVID is still up and about. The current version is not very dangerous for humans but people can still become infected. If you keep a little moisture in the air, it will keep you safe.
So be warm but also don't let the air in your homes get to the point where when you come close to something metal, you can get sparked.

The bottom line is if you live in a cold weather climate, allow a little moisture to exist in your home. Keep it above the sparking range. This will help you to avoid getting COVID while you are in your homes. Being outside in the cold is safe but inside is where the danger lies.

^^Ah, yes. Static electricity is awful. I've been noticing it some days more than others. Since we have an extended period of temperatures in the 30s starting I think I'll be dealing with it again soon.

Oooh. We live in the same state! Go us!

It was another cold night, but it was still warmer then yesterday. It dropped down to around 20 degrees F. I had to shovel off snow on the driveway this morning. Winter is getting closer.

It's forecast to get down to 21F next Thursday here, but otherwise nothing that chilly on the horizon. South Westerly winds here and there seem to be protecting us to some extent. Also it's reasonably dry, but relative humidity still 32% indoors. Didn't see any sparking last year. No doubt the harshest is yet to come. I'm just hoping the water company have installed new pumps after last year's calamity.
