My cat, who was adopted from a local shelter, came with a chip. They spayed/neutered/chipped each animal prior to its being released to its new family. I wasn't happy with the idea, but I wanted her so badly, I had to go along with it. I recently heard about the chips causing cancer, too.

As for the missing cat, I think cats periodically like to do a "Walkabout." I hope she comes home to you really soon!

I got my kitty chipped out of love, and now I'm all worried about it. :(

just wanted to let you guys know that PurrSnicKitty (my Siamese) that went missing for about 3 days did in fact return home tonight. He was dragging himself with his front paws, his back legs would not work. My mother kindly took us to the emergency vet clinic and xrays showed that he broken both femurs very badly and had to be euthanised because surgery on both legs just wasn't an option. I loved this cat so much, he was my favorite and was awesome and was so good with the kids. The vet doesn't think he was struck by a car but rather got caught in something and fell. He drug himself home over the course of a couple of days. I got to hold him as he left this world and was no longer in pain.
thanks to everyone who offered me encouragement while I worried about his whereabouts

That was heroic of him to try to make it home. You know he did not abandon you now.

Thanks everyone for your kind words. I have cried so much I keep coming up with awful things to think about it all. He wanted to see me so much, I'm glad he was able to find his way home. he had a fever so they assumed it had happened at least 24 hrs ago. when I got him in the house he curled up on my lap, drank a few drops of water off my finger and went to sleep. at least he had that peace for a bit until we left for the vet clinic.

Ow, I am so sorry for you. What a brave cat, to try and make it home despite the horrible pain.
I'm extending you a big hug.

PawsAlmighty....

I lost my little fur baby in April from feline luk....she tested positive as a kitten...she was with us for 8 months, although I've had a few cats over the years and they all have been my babies...she was one of the most "special" ones even in the short time she was here. It always seems the "treasures" in life never are around as much as you would like them to be...their stay always seems too short.

I'm sorry you lost your special fellow...he loved you dearly to make his way home the way he did to say goodbye.
