Adopting an older cat would be a kindness, since most people always want kittens. I always feel sad at the number of older cats who don't get adopted.

agree,
the old gent had adopted [fluffybum] here was said to be over fifteen years old, only had since march with him,and he died recently-never even thought of his age when started looking after him, older cats do get left out and it's not right.

go on wsmac, get an older cat, they have all that life experience to show off.
all they need is a safe home, snug knees to curl/completely stretch out on,a litter tray or neighbours garden to go toilet in [as is the way with many loyal cats],and lots of rubs, and decent christmas presents to.

After my little episode with the kittens, I was left all alone except when my daughter is staying with me.

Today I wandered into a place and saw the perfect pet for me... and it turned out to be a dog!

I brought him home with me and we're getting along famously! :D

I believe his name is Bartholomew. That's what I'm calling him anyway.

Here's a picture...

Call me crazy... but I think this one's a keeper!

maybe the pound/shelter has an sedate ederly cat that needs a quiet home to live
Just being older doesn't confer calm self-sufficiency. I had a cat that stayed exuberant and affection greedy until she dies at almost 17.

Yes, that has been suggested to me before.
I do find that idea better than having younger animals at home... but I think right now, I'm better off with Bartholomew. :D

I'll keep the other option open though.
