the last time the neighbor had a huge bonfire about thirty feet away from OUR house (not his) and left it unattended. And before any one says you should have just called the pd/fd to check out thats not an emergency. Around here the only local number for anything like that is 911. Since my phone doesn't have long distance I can't call the fire or police department.

The last time I called the emergency service...(which is 111 in New Zealand where I live) was when my mothers ex partner forced entry into my house and refused to leave. While my mother and him were argueing and was starting to get physical I rand them and said that there was a trespasser refusing to leave my house and he is argueing with my mother.

In AS world, fiction is real (esp. for children). Anyone remember Rescue 911? Oh my gosh I panicked. Cops were showing up and I realized (?) there was no problem. I was 4.

About two weeks ago. The furnace had been sending a thin film of black, sooty, oily junk through the air and one night while preparing for a class the smoke/carbon monoxide detector went off. In the process of calling emergency repairmen one of them told me to call the fire dept. to have the monoxide level checked. I had already turned off the furnace, so I put the cat outside so he get some fresh air and then I opened the windows and turned on the attic fan to pull fresh air into the house. By the time the fire dept. guys got here there wasn't any carbon monoxide left to find. The friends I called were worried though; they said my speech was slurred. Anyway, the furnace was shot and $4,500 later we have a new furnace, cleaned out the air ducts, and got the cat bathed.

I never called 911, but I was tempted in a family argument situation. I told my parents that I was moving into my own apartment, and they had a MASSIVE meltdown. They were both crying hysterically, screaming their lungs out, telling me what a bad person I am, and there was no reasoning with them. But what stopped me is that since nothing illegal was done, and no threats were made, the cop might stick me with a fine for a false alarm.

I called in February after talking with our 24/7 nurse line that my former company provided for us. They advised me to place the emergency call because I was having chest pain and dizziness. I spent the next several hours in Cardiac ER -- followed by lots of follow-up appointments and test with a Cardiologist. Not much fun!

I called 911 before. It was because my father and mother were having an argument and I got scared.

I'm glad to say that I've never had to call 911, but the last time an emergency crew visited my house was when my grandma had a seizure.

I had to call once. I was walking down the road (good thing I like to take walks) and I noticed that this person's yard was on fire and they weren't home. I tried to put it out myself, but it didn't work so I went home and called 911. After that I ran up there and watched them put the fire out. It was cool. 8)
