Not really. For that reason I avoid doing it whenever possible. I could speak to people from here though if they're in need of practice?

Because of my profession I have to answer the phone no matter what, so I'm essentially "on call" twenty four, seven. When the phone rings late at night, my heart skips a few beats because I image all the disasters that could befall my rental units. Tenants can't figure out why I'm so friendly when they call to announce something minor like a late rent payment. I'm not being friendly.......I'm relieved!

I don't mind chatting on the phone, as long as it's not just idle chatter but about something constructive. Like discussing something work-related with a colleague. Idle chatter is not my forte. And I prefer SMS messages to phone conversations.

Nope. Unless I have no other way of getting a point across, I avoid the phone. I use it mostly for talking with my work, my family... and my BF. I always have mucho unused minutes left by month's end.

NO. The phone is for business. I try to limit phone discussions to 60 seconds or less, to the maximum extent possible.

I routinely "forget" my cell phone at home, and frequently turn it off anyway when I do have it with me.

One day my phone was ringing on my table. A colleague who was over to help with some stuff asked me, "Aren't you going to answer the phone?" I replied, quite simply, no. He asked why. I fired back "Because I don't have to!"

That baffled him, as it always baffles NTs, who are slaves to their phones.

What I do like about telephone interaction is that facial cues and body language are completely unnecessary. NTs still try to use tone and inflection, but literality is far more important in this context. Talking on the radio is quite similar.

I don't really like answering the phone. Especially eerie phone calls, where the caller waits for three "hellos" before hanging up.

Well, I'm certainly getting the results I expected... Do you think our dislike of the phone is related to our general inability to do "small talk?"

I dont talk on phones and get others to do it for me. When trying to set up bank things like card activations or whatever I would ask my mum to do it and they tell her to let me speak to them to give my permission for her to do it and only ask my name, DOB, Address then I can let her do the rest.

I really dont like phones.

I've spent as much as nine hours straight on the phone just recently with my friends. So unlike most people here, I love talking on the phone! The reason we had to get off was because it was, like, 5:00 in the morning. I'm not huge on cell phones though. And I'm not too fond of calling stores to see what's in stock. Otherwise, I won't get off the phone!

I can't stand it. I don't know why but I seem to find it quite intimidating.

the second a telephone comes near my ear my speech becomes extremely clumsy (usually I can carry a conversation somewhat well). I tend to repeat words like "OK" and "so anyway" over and over again without adding anything new to the conversation.
