NO. The phone is for business. I try to limit phone discussions to 60 seconds or less, to the maximum extent possible.
I routinely "forget" my cell phone at home, and frequently turn it off anyway when I do have it with me.
One day my phone was ringing on my table. A colleague who was over to help with some stuff asked me, "Aren't you going to answer the phone?" I replied, quite simply, no. He asked why. I fired back "Because I don't have to!"
That baffled him, as it always baffles NTs, who are slaves to their phones.
What I do like about telephone interaction is that facial cues and body language are completely unnecessary. NTs still try to use tone and inflection, but literality is far more important in this context. Talking on the radio is quite similar.
