This one friend of mine, The Mad Scribbler, once insisted that we sit down next to each other, each on our own separate computer, be completely silent, and must TOTALLY SILENTLY chat / type to each other instead of talking out loud (or rather, talking quietly enough for a library anyways)! Now there's an Aspie for you.
I used to do that with my daughter. She would get really mad at me and start screaming. I'm pretty sensitive to noise so that would drive me crazy. I guess I make weird faces when she does that which would make her scream more. So, I found that IMing worked. She would storm into her room and I'd be in the office next door. She'd hear her laptop making the IMing sound (something she can't resist) and respond. That way, we communicated without looking at each other, and she'd calm down because she was understood. I am really glad that phase is over!
